ololo11 [35]

Answer:

As a director of the company, Elijah is also an agent of the company. As such , he is dutybound to exercise reasonable care in all transactions entered by him on behalf of the company. In the instant case, it is obvious that he has failed to exercise the degree of care and skill expected of a person of ordinary prudence. If someone makes an offer to sell cars at an unbelievely low price, two doubts should crop up in the mind of any rational person : Are the merchandise of offer stolen property? Or are they fective merchandise?

But, Elijah did not bother to go to the site of the seller to physically inspect the cars. He closes the contract on the basis of a telephone call.

In the given case, the cars are not usable. Maybe they can be used after sunstantial repairs. But that too indicates that the annual maintenance cost for the cars is going to be much higher than the normal cars. Both these factors are going to adversely impact the profitability of the company.

Another relevant fact is that Elijah should have consulted with the other directors of the company in this case before entering the contract on behalf of the company, specially since Micheal the seller of the cars happens to be Elijah's friend, and there could have been a conflict of interest.

Given the above circumstances, the following steps can be taken against Elijah by the company:

a. Since Elijah, as the company's agent has failed to apply reasonable care and skill in the conduct of the affairs of the principal, the company can repudiate the contract with Michel, which would render Elijah personally liable for the debt contracted.

a. Terminate Elijah's contract with the company.

b. Resist Elijah's claims on salaries and compensation for loss of office.

c. File a suit against Elijah for restitution of the sum paid for the defective cars.

d. File a suit against Elijah for damages, if it can be proved that he was to make any secret profits from the transaction.

Lesechka [4]

Answer:

This is the sample answer

Explanation:

After a natural disaster, such as a major hurricane, there is increased demand for gasoline, lumber, bottled water, clothing, and other essential goods as people try to replace and rebuild what was lost. At the same time, the supply of these goods likely decreases because of disruptions to factories and transportation. Under normal market conditions, producers would raise their prices at the first sign of trouble, both to offset their own losses from the disaster and to obtain optimal profits.

However, people who have lost everything need to start rebuilding as soon as possible at a price they can afford to pay. The sooner the community is rebuilt and back to normal, the sooner the local economy will return to normal for both consumers and producers. For this reason, I think the government should introduce price ceilings on essential goods during a disaster. Many people would not be able to buy the goods they need without price ceilings. Although producers lose out on maximizing their profits, their actual losses are limited because they are allowed to raise prices to cover production and transportation costs driven up by the disaster.

Because citizens benefit so greatly from them, I think emergency price ceilings are beneficial to the economy as long as producers do not suffer significant losses from them.

The demand function for a certain make of ink-jet cartridge is the following where p is the unit price in dollars and x is the q
Paul [167]

Answer:

The answer to the following question is: (-9.34)

Explanation:

Given that:

p = -0.07 x^2 - 0.7x  + 6

The price elasticity of demand = ( change in quality / change in price)

     =   (dp / dx)  (x/p)

     =   d / dx   (-0.07 x^2 - 0.7x  + 6)   x / p

     =   (-0.14x - 0.7)  x/ (-0.07 x^2 - 0.7x  + 6)

elasticity = (-0.14x^2 - 0.7x) / (-0.07 x^2 - 0.7x  + 6)

at x=5;

elasticity = (-0.14(5)^2 - 0.7(5)) / (-0.07 (5)^2 - 0.7(5)  + 6)

              = (-3.5 - 3.5) / (-1.75 - 3.5 + 6)

              =  -7/ 0.75 = -9.333

              = -9.34

If the quote for a Treasury bond is listed in the newspaper as 98.2812 bid, 98.4062 ask, the actual price at which you can purch
azamat

Solution and explanation:

Given data:

Ask price: 98.4062, bid price: 98.2812, par value of the bond: $10,000

The following formula is used in order to calculate the actual value of the bond

The ask price will be used while calculating the actual value of the bond and the par value of the bond will be used

Ask price will be multiplied with par value of the bond and divided by 100

98.4062(10000) / 100= $9840.62

Therefore, the par value as per the above calculation is $9840.62
