Item 10 A group of AP Chemistry students debated which fast-food chain had better quality bags, Fast Food Chain W or Fast Food C

hain M . They decided to investigate by selecting a random sample of 25 bags from each fast food restaurant, slowly adding water until each bag began to leak, and recording the volume of water they were able to pour into each bag. They then calculated the mean volume and standard deviation, in ounces, for the two types of bags.
Determine the correct null and alternative hypotheses to test whether the mean volume of water the bags from Fast Food Chain W can hold without leaking, μW, is different from that for the bags from Fast Food Chain M, μM ?

Answer:

The null hypothesis would be

    H_O: \mu W - \mu M =0

The alternative hypothesis would be

    H_a : \mu W - \mu M \ne 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the mean volume of water the bag for  fast food chain W be  \mu W

Let the mean volume of water the bag for  fast food chain M be  \mu M

Now the null hypothesis usually contains a mathematically statement that is contrary to the statement we are testing

While alternative hypothesis usually contains a mathematically statement that is in line  with the statement we are testing

    Now if the both means are different then

           \mu W - \mu M \ne 0

   But  they are not different then

          \mu W - \mu M = 0

So the null hypothesis would be

    H_O: \mu W - \mu M =0

While the alternative hypothesis would be

    H_a : \mu W - \mu M \ne 0

The function f(x)=-x^2-2x+15 is shown on the graph. What are the domain and range of the function?
adoni [48]

Answer:

Domain is all real numbers

y ≤ 16

Step-by-step explanation:

The domain is the set of x values that the graph covers. There is no restriction on the x values. The domain is all real numbers.

The range is the set of y values that the graph covers. The highest the y values go is 16 at the top of the parabola. So the range is y ≤ 16.

If x = (10 − 3i) and y = (3 − 10i), then xy = -109i and x/y =
Yuliya22 [10]
Xy = -109i
We could find the value of i by substitute the algebraic form of x and y to the equation above

xy = -109i
(10 - 3i)(3 - 10i) = -109i
(10)(3) -3i(3) + 10(-10i) - 3i(-10i) = -109i
30 - 9i - 100i -30i² = -109i

multiply both side by -1
-30 + 9i + 100i + 30i² = 109i
30i² + 9i + 100i - 109i - 30 = 0
30i² - 30 = 0
30i² = 30
i² = 1
i = -1 or i = 1

Then find the value of x and y if i = -1
If i = -1, therefore
x = 10 - 3(-1)
x = 10 + 3
x = 13

y = (3 - 10i)
y = 3 - 10(-1)
y = 3 + 10
y = 13

x/y = 13/13 = 1

Then find the value of x and y if i = 1
x = 10 - 3(1)
x = 10 - 3
x = 7

y = (3 - 10i)
y = 3 - 10(1)
y = 3 - 10
y = -7

x/y = 7/-7 = -1

The value of x/y is either 1 or -1
