The main aim of a persuasive speech is to convince or motivate an audience to do something. You are essentially trying to command the audience to adopt your own point of view. The best persuasive speech topics are thought-provoking, daring and have a clear opinion.

Due to the fact that the main purpose of the persuasive speech is to convince but at the same time to be provoking for the audience, I would say that the best type of reasoning is the deductive reasoning.

Deductive reasoning is when you go from the general to the particular. In other words, you present a series of ideas and you reach a conclusion or rule.

This kind of reasoning is better to convince or persuade people because you select what particular pieces of information present them, but you make them reach the conclusion. In that way, you let them think that they are deciding the outcome of the reasoning without realizing that you manipulated them by presenting the options that would cause that outcome.

On the other hand, using inductive reasoning is no as effective since you have to present them the final reasoning or golden idea to the audience and try to make them apply it in their particular situations. By doing such a thing you overtly give them no choice to make rather than accept or not your idea, which is ultimately a dangerous bargain to make.

So, to give a final and concrete answer, the best type of reasoning in a persuasive speech is:

Deductive reasoning

in line 64,the speaker refers to “beaten silver paths.” To what does this image refer, and how is it connected to the silver bla
Anestetic [448]

in Joy Harjo's "New Orleans", the line "beaten silver paths" refers to the streets of such city. She remembers of certain Spanish conqueror, De Soto, who came to this lands searching for, and constantly states that he wouldn't find it here. Maybe is a mock to that fact.

The "silver blades and crosses" refers to the sword and crucifix of the conqueror, who drawn in the Mississippi river which dreamt of those items. Maybe this means that the streets of New Orleans were made of the things and dreams of the many conquerors who came to that land in search for gold and failed.

Why do you think pastoralism arose in the same time period as naturalism despite their different themes or approaches to literat
Amanda [17]
Romantic ideals in the early to mid-nineteenth century were shattered by the Civil War. Americans grew disillusioned by the war. They didn't agree with the glorious depiction of war that romantic literature tried to capture, both during and after the war. This disillusionment led writers to take a different perspective in their literature. Literary movements such as realism, naturalism, and pastoralism were the result. While realism and naturalism embraced scientific principles, pastoralism attempted to recapture romanticism by portraying the simple life. During the post-Civil War period, some writers felt that there was a need to show that romantic literature, as a whole, was not forgotten. Pastoralism depicted the beauty of a simple life, in particular, that of a shepherd’s, in order to recapture romanticism. Plato
