Robert was able to travel 292.0 miles in 4.000 hours and used 38 liters of gasoline. What was robert's speed in feet per second?
torisob [31]

Distance traveled by Robert = 292 miles

Time taken by Robert to cover this distance = 4 hours.

Now converting miles in feet.

1 mile = 5280 feet

so, 292 feet = 292 * 5280 = 1541760 feet

Now converting 4 hours in seconds.

1 hour = 3600 seconds

so, 4 hours have 3600 * 4 = 14400 seconds.

Now the question says, we have to find the speed in feet per second

speed = \frac{distance}{time}

equals,

\frac{1541760}{14400}

= 107.067 feet per second

The figure below shows a line graph and two shaded triangles that are similar:Which statement about the slope of the line is tru
zzz [600]
Here is something to keep in mind.
when there is a downward slope, the slope will ALWAYS have a negative slope. even if it is above the x-axis. negative slopes will tend to go from positive y-axis to negative y-axis
so personally would have to go with -4
because the x-axis is by 4 each time. and this slope is going downward.

your answer will be D

belka [17]

system of equations can be used to find the price in dollars of each large candle, x, and each small candle, y is x+8y=68 and 3x+4y=64 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have , A customer at a store paid $64 for 3 large candles and 4 small candles. At the same store, a second customer paid $4 more than the first customer for 1 large candle and 8 small candles. The price of each large candle is the same, and the price of each small candle is the same. We need to find Which system of equations can be used to find the price in dollars of each large candle, x, and each small candle, y . Let's find out:

Let the price in dollars of each large candle, x, and each small candle, y .So

A customer at a store paid $64 for 3 large candles and 4 small candles

Equation is :

⇒ 3x+4y=64 .....(1)

At the same store, a second customer paid $4 more than the first customer for 1 large candle and 8 small candles.

Equation is :

⇒ x+8y=68 .......(2)

3(2)-(1) i.e.

⇒ 3(x+8y)-(3x+4y)=68(3)-64

⇒ 20y=140

⇒ y=7

So , x+8y=68

⇒ x+8(7)=68

⇒ x=12

Therefore , system of equations can be used to find the price in dollars of each large candle, x, and each small candle, y is x+8y=68 and 3x+4y=64 .

Given CS=2x+1, SB=6x, CR=7.5, and RA=18. What must the value of x be in order to prove SR || BA? Justify your answer
dangina [55]
The picture in the attached figure

we know that
In similar triangles. The ratio of the lengths of the sides CS and CB must be equal to the ratio of the lengths of sides CR and CA. CS / CB = CR / CA
which can also be written as,
CS / (CS + SB) = CR / (CR + RA)
CS*(CR+RA)=CR*(CS+RA)
CS=2x+1
SB=6x
CR=7.5
RA=18
(2x+1)*[7.5+18]=7.5*[2x+1+18]
(2x+1)*[25.5]=7.5*[2x+19]
(51x+25.5)=15x+142.5
51x-15x=142.5-25.5
36x=117
x=117/36
x=3.25

the answer is
x=3.25

Exclude leap years from the following calculations. (a) Compute the probability that a randomly selected person does not have a
Scrat [10]

Answer:

a) 99.73% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on March 14.

b) 96.71% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 2 nd day of a month.

c) 98.08% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 31 st day of a month.

d) 92.33% probability that a randomly selected person was not born in February.

Step-by-step explanation:

A probability is the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

A non-leap year has 365 days.

(a) Compute the probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on March 14.

There are 365-1 = 364 days that are not March 14. So

364/365 = 0.9973

99.73% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on March 14.

(b) Compute the probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 2 nd day of a month.

There are 12 months, so there are 12 2nds of a month.

So

(365-12)/365 = 0.9671

96.71% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 2 nd day of a month.

(c) Compute the probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 31 st day of a month.

The following months have 31 days: January, March, May, July, August, October, December.

So there are 7 31st days of a month during a year.

Then

(365-7)/365 = 0.9808

98.08% probability that a randomly selected person does not have a birthday on the 31 st day of a month.

(d) Compute the probability that a randomly selected person was not born in February.

During a non-leap year, February has 28 days. So

(365-28)/365 = 0.9233

92.33% probability that a randomly selected person was not born in February.
