Answer:

Merlin in "the Sword Excalibur" placed Excalibur into an anvil atop a stone, saying that only the true King of Britain would have the power to pull it free. He advised Arthur how to officially become the King. It's a positive advice.

On the other hand, the pilgrim Shadow in "Eldorado" knew that the gallant knight was tired of the finding the land of Eldorado, he advised the knight to stop his journey. It's a negative advice.

motikmotik
The first excerpt is satire because satire is the use of humor, irony, or exaggeration.

The second excerpt is repetition. The phrase, "Now is the time..." is being repeated.

The third excerpt is rhetorical questions. Throughout the excerpt, there are questions being asked which the readers aren't supposed to be answered. Instead, the questions are there to make a point.

Revise the passage by changing all of the gerunds to infinitives and all of the infinitives to gerunds.
AnnZ [28]

On the one hand, a gerund is a verb that acts as a noun, know for the -ing form. On the other hand, an infinitive is the basic form of a verb, that usually follows "to" or another verb form. The revised sentence, including both of these, is:

"To give is one of the best things people can do. Volunteering their time shows what caring people they are."

The answer for the first question is A) The dark atmosphere shows that public schools have been victims of destructive weather events. We can observe that the school has been tore apart and its barely standing still, most likely due to the destructive weather event that just took place in the scenario.

For the second question, I believe the answer is C) He compares the colonies to pieces of snake because he believes colonies will be innefective unless they work together. His belief is not only representated by the snake but also by the slogan he chose 'Join or Die' which allows us to understand that unless the colonies unite they are not effective.

Hope this helps!
