Let’s identify the usage of “BUT” on each sentence given:

  1. <em>No one answered the ad but me: </em>Here but<u> is used as a preposition</u>. When “BUT” is used before an object pronoun, it means that only that person did the action. In this case, only I answered. It’s used to mean only.
  2. <em>There is but one choice to make in this case:</em> “BUT” i<em><u>s used as an adverb.</u></em> It also means only or just, for this case, it means that there is only one choice to make.
  3. <em>Sadie said she would go but she had to bring her sister:</em>  in this case, the word but <em><u>is used as a conjunction</u></em>. Here “BUT” is being used to connect two ideas or clauses that contrast at the same time. In the sentence, the first idea (Sadie said she would go) connects and at the same time is contrasting the second idea (She had to bring her sister).

The main figure that is being under discussion in this excerpt is description of people's social behaviour that delivers sort of estimation for depicted society in general. The speaker's attitude is shown in the word order and figurative language. Using a bit sarcastic critical tone author depicts the situation in a way readers can understand its problematic without direct prompts or persuasive tools.

Hi.
Butoxors [25]

Perhaps take from my answer. Sorry if this isn't good, i'm a bit tired. You can add on and change up the words. I was unsure what was exactly wanted for this.

Answer:

Hello, as the speaker of this, I say the motion is correct. Modern movies are run by acting and scripts, while people are off script and anything could truly happen. Younger people tend to leach from what they see on T.V. and from elders, thus certain movies may give them bad views. Say with common action movies: That would most likely give the person a taste of violence as an answer. Humans can be violent, but are not always fighting like how thrillers and action movies show. People do break out into fights, just not like that. If someone was trying to figure out how some commonly interact and behave from a movie, it wouldn't be a good choice, since that would provide the wrong view. Unless it's a documentary or educational film, modern movies do indeed give a bad model. It is understandable for others to have different opinions on this matter, this is my own. Thank you for your time.

An action potential is an "all-or-nothing" event. Explain what is meant by this phrase.
Fofino [41]

Answer:

An <u>Action Potential</u> is an <u><em>"All or Nothing"</em></u> phenomenon. It was first described in 1871 by a Physiologist Henry Pickering Bowditch.

Explanation:

The action potential is always a full response, there is no such thing as a strong or weak potential. This means that when<u> a stimulus is given, a neuron either does not reach the threshold or a full action potential is fired</u>.

<u><em>STATEMENT OF LAW:</em></u>

The all or none law states that , <u>the strength of a response of a nerve cell or a muscle fiber do not depends upon the strength of a stimulus. If a stimulus is above a certain threshold, the nerve cell will send the information down the axon towards the synapse and the signal is being propagated.</u>

<u><em>SIGNIFICANCE:</em></u>

The significance of this law is that<u> it minimizes the possibility of information to be lost along the way.</u>

This law was initially applied to the muscles of heart but later it was found to be true for neuronal cells and other muscle fibers too.

Thus an action potential is all or nothing event.
