In both the FAO soil classification and the USDA soil taxonomy, a histosol is a soil consisting primarily of organic materials. They are defined as having 40 centimetres (16 in) or more of organic soil material in the upper 80 centimetres (31 in). Organic soil material has an organic carbon content (by weight) of 12 to 18 percent, or more, depending on the clay content of the soil. while aridosols are a soil order in USA soil taxonomy.[1] Aridisols (from the Latin aridus, for “dry”, and solum) form in an arid or semi-arid climate. Aridisols dominate the deserts and xeric shrublands, which occupy about one third of the Earth's land surface. Aridisols have a very low concentration of organic matter, reflecting the paucity of vegetative production on these dry soils. Water deficiency is the major defining characteristic of aridisols.

Answer:

1. Location: Histosols are the soils which are found in the grasslands, swamps and marshes, whereas the aridosols are soils that are found in desert regions.

2. Color: Histosols are soils which are rich in organic matter therefore, are dark colored, whereas the aridosols are soils that lack organic matter, hence are light in color.

3. Water retention capacity: Histosols exhibit higher water retention capacity as compared to the aridosols.

4. Rate of decomposition: Rate of decomposition is higher in the histosols as compared to aridosols.

2. Which of the following best describes the genetic material a person receives from his or her father?
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

22 autsomes and an X or y chromosome

Explanation:

Humans have 46 chromosomes. 23 from the mother and 23 from the father. The father has x and y chromosome. While the mother has two x chromosomes. 22 chromosomes each are given from both parents And the other chromosome (the 23rd) are the chromosomes for sex genes. Autosomes are all chromosomes that are not sex chromosomes. Therefore 22 autosomes are given from each parent. With reference to this questions 22 autsomes and one x or y chromosome will be given from the father.

KIM [24]

Answer: The video shows the plant reacting to external stimuli. Humans also react to many types of external stimuli. If someone touches us when we’re not expecting it, we jump. If we put a hand on something hot, we snatch it away. When it’s cold outside, our bodies shiver and our skin turns cold. When we walk into the sunlight after being in the shade, we tend to close our eyes or squint.
