The third option is the best fit for the application of a linear model.

In the first option, there is likely to be a correlation but it cannot be a linear one as goals are missed even from inside the keeper's box.

In the second option, it is safe to assume that each person will at least 2 other so this will follow an exponential model.

In the third option, the stopping distance is given by the equation of motion:
s = ut + 1/2 x at²
And this shows that the distance varies linearly with speed.

Ankur estimated the quotient of 15 1/3 divided by -4 2/3 to be 3. Which best describes his error?
hichkok12 [17]

Solution:

As the two numbers 15 \frac{1}{3} {\text{and} -4\frac{2}{3}<em> </em>are mixed fractions.

15 \frac{1}{3}= \frac{46}{3} \\\\ -4\frac{2}{3}= \frac{-14}{3}

Now,  \frac{ \frac{46}{3}}{\frac{-14}{3}} = - 3

Ankur's answer= 3

The mistake he has committed , while dividing two fractions , he must have forgot that one of the fraction which is in the denominator bears negative sign  before it.

So, \frac {+}{-}= -.

Ankur forgot to put negative sign before 3.

So, The correct option which describes ankur's error is : Ankur found that the quotient of a positive number and a negative number is positive.

Option 3 is right choice.

Betsy is analyzing a quadratic function f(x) and a linear function g(x). Will they intersect? f(x) g(x) graph of the function f
agasfer [191]

Consider the quadratic function f(x)=\frac{1}{3}x^2-2x

and the linear function g(x) defined as

\text{at  }x=1, g(x)=1; \text{ at }x=2, g(x)=2 \text{ and at }x=3, g(x)=3

\text{so the linear function is }&#10;g(x)=x\\&#10;\\&#10;\text{now to check whehter the quadratic function f(x) and linear function }g(x)\\&#10;\text{intersects, we solve the equations }f(x)=g(x)\\&#10;\\&#10;\Rightarrow \frac{1}{3}x^2-2x=x\\&#10;\\&#10;\Rightarrow \frac{1}{3}x^2-3x=0\\&#10;\\&#10;\Rightarrow x\left ( \frac{1}{3}x-3 \right )=0\\&#10;\\&#10;\text{now using the zero product rule, we get}\\&#10;\\&#10;x=0 , \text{ and } \frac{1}{3}x-3=0

\Rightarrow x=0, \text{ and }\frac{1}{3}x=3\\&#10;\\&#10;\Rightarrow x=0, \text{ and }x=9\\&#10;\\&#10;\text{so the functions intersect at x=0 and x=9.}

kobusy [5.1K]

"Then I will need an average quality score of <u>3.28</u>  to meet 85.28 goal."

<u>Step-by-step explanation</u>:

  • current average quality score = 82
  • improvement on average quality score = 4% of 82

⇒ (4/100)\times82

⇒ 82/25

⇒ 3.28

The improved average quality score = 82+3.28 = 85.28

The employee needs an average quality score of 3.28 to meet the goal of 85.28
