1. Looking back on the Golden Age of Ancient Greece

Augustus is wearing military clothing, holding a consular baton (stick/staff). This symbolizes importance and leadership.

Augustus stands in a relaxed pose where one leg bears weight.

His right hand is in an outstreched pose meaning he is addressing the troops.

2. The Cupid and Dolphin

At Augustus’ right leg is cupid figure riding a dolphin.  

The dolphin is a symbol of Augustus’ great defeat over Mark Antony and Cleopatra.

The cupid symbolizes that Augustus originates from gods just like cupid originates from Venus.

3. The breastplate

The breastplate he is wearing symbolizes that he is backed up by gods.
