Answer:

Hi! You can find the answers below in the 'explanation' section.

Explanation:

1. By inserting a flashback at a critical moment, the writer prolongs the moment and adds to the suspense. Also, it serves to reveal a hidden side of Cornelia’s personality (shyness).

2. We learn that Cornelia and Bonnie have been friends since the sixth grade, and that Bonnie encouraged Cornelia to overcome her shyness.

3. for the writer to provide the reader with the same information without the use of the flashback, the writer could describe Cornelia’s mixed feelings about Bonnie. However, the description would not be as effective as aflashback, as it would not provide a vivid example of Bonnie’s influence on Cornelia’s past behavior.

Answer: Eponymic.

Explanation:

An eponym is a person after whom a discovery or place is named, or assumed to be named. In other words, it is a name or a noun which is formed after a person. New inventions are often connected to those who found them. The adjectives derived from eponym are eponymous and eponymic. As eponyms are based on proper nouns, they often begin with capital letters.
