Which pair of words in this excerpt from Emily Dickinson's "I Felt a Funeral in My Brain" exhibit slant rhyme?

Fro and Through

Slant rhyme is when the words do not have perfect rhyme. They could have a similar sound, but it's not identical. Sometimes a reader must alter the pronunciation of the words slightly to create the similar sound. In the poem, fro has a long /o/ sound and through has the sound /oo/. These are not identical, but can be similar if pronounced a certain way.

I would say FRO and THROUGH, because through is said differently then when you're rhyming with FRO, if I could say it outlaid it would make more sense :P but I hope this helps!

Help me find the right aswer of gaps 2 and 5:
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

The correct answers are:

2. unattractive

5. However

Explanation:

In sentence number 2, the correct answer would be unattractive, as we can notice the shop windows discourage shoppers because of their emptiness. Bustling means full of activity, impressive means special, important or really large, so those options cannot be considered as a correct answer. Option A could be the correct answer, but unattractive fits better at the context then frequent.

In sentence number 5, the correct answer would be however. Because introduces causes and reasons, by introducing a subordinate clause, which needs a main clause to make it complete. Therefore, it cannot be considered a correct answer. Although means in spite of something and it can be used at the beginning or in the middle of a sentence, but it doesn't have a comma afterward and it cannot be considered as a correct answer.

We use otherwise to introduce a thought or an idea that contains an opposite claim or statement and to express our disagreement. It connects two clauses where the second clause (which contains otherwise) express what would have happened if the action in a first sentence hadn't occurred. Therefore, the correct answer is however. We use however to introduce a statement that expresses contrast with the previous sentence.

History, 04.06.2020 02:00, dbzrules02

Read the passage from the Houston Chronicle about air quality in Houston in 2019. “I’m surprised and disturbed that Houston’s air quality worsened in this year’s [American Lung Association ‘State of the Air’] report,” said Luke Metzger, director of Environment Texas. “The trend since 1999 had been one of steady progress and instead now it seems we are backtracking and that’s bad news particularly for the hundreds of thousands of people who have asthma or other vulnerable populations like senior citizens. . . .”

Current models estimate that more than 60 percent of ozone pollution is from cars, according to Raun, and to address that, the city is trying to encourage practices such as the use of mass transit and transitioning to fuel-efficient or low-emission vehicles.

How is Houston trying to combat increasing ozone pollution?

by raising taxes on vulnerable populations

by increasing access to health care

by encouraging use of mass transit

by prohibiting the sale of new cars
