Memo Describing Each Step of the Six-Step Measurement Process

To: Ms. Teagantigan, PhD, Financial Accounting

From: Okwukwe Faith, Financial Accounting Student

Subject: The Six-Step Measurement Process

Date: October 11, 2020

Find below the description you requested on the above subject.

1st Step: Identifying the accounts involved using the source documents:

For the provision of decorating services of $500 to a client, the invoice for the service will be reviewed for the accounts involved in the transaction.  It will show that Accounts receivable and Service Revenue are involved.  A review of the payroll check will also show the payment of salary to an employee, in which Cash Account and Salaries Expense account are involved.  Similarly, a review of the purchasing invoice will show that Office Equipment and Cash Account are involved for the purchase of equipment.

2nd Step: Analysis of the impact on the accounting equation: For a) Accounts Receivable and Service Revenue will increase by $500 respectively.  Cash Account will decrease while Salaries Expense account will increase by $1,200 for b).  For c) Office Equipment will increase and Cash will decrease by $2,700.

3rd Step: Assessing the accounts to be debited or credited:  For a) Accounts Receivable will be debited and Service Revenue credited.  For b) Salaries Expense will be debited and Cash credited.  For c) Office Equipment will be debited and Cash credited.

4th Step: With the above identification, the journal will be recorded for transactions a - c as detailed above.

5th Step: The above transactions will then be posted to the general ledger in their respective accounts.

6th Step: At the end of the period, the accounts will be balance and a list of balances extracted in the Trial Balance.

I hope I have understood the steps enough.

Regards,

Okwukwe Faith

If D1 = $1.25, g (which is constant) = 5.5%, and P0 = $40, what is the stock's expected total return for the coming year?
trapecia [35]

Answer:

The expected totar return is: 8,625%

Explanation:

Total return, when measuring performance, is the actual rate of return of an investment or a pool of investments over a given evaluation period. Total return includes interest, capital gains, dividends and distributions realized over a given period of time. Total return is the amount of value an investor earns from a security over a specific period, typically one year.

The formula for the total stock return is the appreciation in the price plus any dividends paid, divided by the original price of the stock.

Total stock return= [(P1-P0)+D]/P0

P0: initial stock price

P1: Ending stock price (Period 1)

D0: dividend

In this case, we do not have P1. So we have to use an alternate version of the Gordon Growth Model. The GGM is mainly applied to value mature companies that are expected to grow at the same rate forever.

P= D1/(r-g)

where:

P=Current Stock Price

g=Constant growth rate in perpetuity

expected for the dividends

r=Constant cost of equity capital for that

company (or rate of return)

D1=Value of the next year’s dividends

By moving terms and isolating "r" we achieve the following formula:

r= D1/P+g

r=1,25/40+0,055= 8,625%

Dexter Metals, paid its first annual dividend yesterday in the amount of $0.18 a share. The company plans to double each annual
skad [1K]

Answer:

The price per share of this stock is $13.20

Explanation:

Using the dividend discount model, we can calculate the price per share today of this stock. The DDM values a stock based on the present value of the expected future dividends of the stock discounted using the required rate of return on the stock. The price o=per share today for this stock is,

P0 = 0.18 * (1+1) / (1+0.1024)  +  0.18 * (1+1)^2 / (1+0.1024)^2  +

0.18 * (1+1)^3 / (1+0.1024)^3  +  1.25 / (1+0.1024)^4  +  1.25 / (1+0.1024)^5  +

(1.60 / 0.1024) / (1+0.1024)^5

P0 = $13.20

Serjik [45]

Answer:

The information provided to Kanska was insufficient.

Explanation:

The onus was on the company to provide all the necessary information for Kanska to work with.

An application development firm only creates applications based on the requirements gathered from clients and if clients don't divulge all necessary information, there is bound to be dissatisfaction in service when the mobile application is provided.
