Sasha is writing a defense of an op-ed claiming sunscreens containing oxybenzone should be banned. Which piece of evidence best

defends her claim?
O One study found that sunscreen containing oxybenzone bleaches coral reefs, leading to the death of the coral. O Oxybenzone, an ingredient found in many sunscreens, filters the UV rays that lead to skin damage and even cancer. O The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that oxybenzone is safe, but there are other ways people can protect their skin. Because it is still important to protect the skin, alternatives to sunscreens with oxybenzone such as those with zinc oxide, are preferred.

A and B are both good defenses to her claims. Coral reefs are vital for the survival of marine ecosystems and the other is a major health risk of using sunscreen containing the chemical.

Write about a time when your best friend surprised you. What was the surprise? What was your reaction? Did you enjoy it? Do you
Dominik [7]

Answer:

The time when my best friend surprised me was some days after my birthday.

He brought a huge cake and completely shocked me, and that was early in the morning.

I was elated, excited, shocked, all forms of happiness and surprise.

Yes, I did really enjoyed it.

I definitely think it is good to sometimes give surprises to others. We may not know what is happening to them, but surprises make people forget their sadness and bring happiness, even if temporary.

Explanation:

On my birthday, my best friend surprised me with a birthday cake. He brought it and came to my home without any notice early in the morning.

The surprise was a success, for I genuinely loved not only the cake but also the gesture. I was utterly shocked that he would even do that, considering it was already some days after my real birthday. But the surprise was a welcome surprise.

I think it is indeed good to give people surprises, for it makes the other person so happy. It was, at least for me. I never imagined that will happen to me, but it did and I really enjoyed it. And we never know what’s going on with people. So, surprises may bring temporary happiness, but it provides relief from the problems for some time, and that’s still better.

Read the paragraph from Lucy’s narrative.
rusak2 [61]

The correct answer is C. She could start with the last sentence instead, allowing suspense to build as the reader wonders why she is hesitant to ask if Grandma June needs help.

Explanation:

In literature, the suspense is a common device used by the author to engage the audience in the story and increase the interest of it. Suspense mainly occurs when the audience or reader wonder about the outcome of events, the following event or the wait events are connected and wait anxiously to know it, because of this, the author of a text can create suspense by using a slow pace in the text, provide only limited information, present the outcome first without the background or use dilemmas.

Considering this, in the case presented the author can create suspense if she starts with the last sentence, because this would make the audience wonder about why the narrator is helping Grandma June and why this seems quite important for the narrator, which means the author could build suspense by presenting the outcome and not providing the background information. Thus, if Lucy wants to create more suspense "She could start with the last sentence instead, allowing suspense to build as the reader wonders why she is hesitant to ask if Grandma June needs help".
