Alexandria High School scored 37 points in a football game. Six points are awarded for each touchdown. After each touchdown, the

team can earn one point for the extra kick or two points for a 2-point conversion. The team scored one fewer 2-point conversions than extra kicks. The team scored 10 times during the game. How many touchdowns were made during the game?

6 0

Answer:

Five touchdowns were made in the game

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to know the number of touchdowns made during the game.

We proceed as follows;

Let the number of touch downs be x

So the total points earned through touchdowns is 6 * x = 6x

The number of scores is 10 times

Let the number of extra kick be y which means that the number of conversions will be (y-1)

So the total number of score times will be ;

x + y + y-1 = 10

x + 2y = 11 •••••••••(i)

Now let’s work with points

Touch down points = 6 * x = 6x

Points from extra kick = 1 * y = y

Points from 2-point conversions = 2(y-1) = 2y - 2

So;

6x + y + 2y -2 = 37

6x + 3y = 37 + 2

6x + 3y = 39

divide through by 3

2x + y = 13 •••••••(ii)

So now solve simultaneously

From ii, y = 13 - 2x

Put this into i

x + 2(13-2x) = 11

x + 26 - 4x = 11

x -4x = 11-26

-3x = -15

x = -15/-3

x = 5

There are five touchdowns in the game

If the code for CAB is DEK, what is the code for BED?
snow_tiger [21]

Answer:

CIM

Step-by-step explanation:

C is the 3rd letter of the alphabet, A is the 1st, and B is the 2nd.

CAB = 3,1,2

Repeating for DEK:

DEK = 4,5,11

Comparing:

4−3 = 1

5−1 = 4

11−2 = 9

BED = 2,5,4, so adding the corresponding numbers:

2+1 = 3

5+4 = 9

4+9 = 13

So the code is CIM.

Classify the following polynomials. combine any like terms first
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

Monomial

Trinomial

Monomial

Trinomial

Binomial

Step-by-step explanation:

Monomial = 1 unique term

Binomial = 2 unique terms

Trinomial = 3 unique terms

In the first one, the -x^2 and the +x^2 cancel out, and since 2x and 4x are like terms, you can combine them, leaving you with 6x, a Monomial.

In the second one, after combining +3-2 you have 3 separate terms that cannot be combined, making it a Trinomial

In the third one, all of the variables cancel each other out, leaving you with one term, 3, making it a Monomial

In the fourth one, after combining like temrs, you are left with:

x^3 + 3x^2 + 7x

Making it a Trinomial

In the last one, the 6x and -6x cancel out, leaving you with two terms, making it a Binomial.

Select the correct answer from each drop-down menu. For circle O, and m∠ABC = 55°. In the figure, ∠ and ∠ have measures equal to
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

CA is a diameter of the circle, so m\widehat{AC}=180^\circmAC=180∘ , which means m\angle AOB=m\angle AOD=m\widehat{AD}=180^\circ-m\widehat{CD}=55^\circm∠AOB=m∠AOD=mAD=180∘−mCD=55∘ . Then m\boxed{\angle ABO}=90^\circ-55^\circ=35^\circm∠ABO=90∘−55∘=35∘ .

This means m\angle CBO=55^\circ-35^\circ=20^\circm∠CBO=55∘−35∘=20∘ . Also, if m\angle AOB=55^\circm∠AOB=55∘ , then m\angle BOC=180^\circ-55^\circ=125^\circm∠BOC=180∘−55∘=125∘ , which in turns tells us that m\boxed{\angle BCO}=180^\circ-20^\circ-125^\circ=35^\circm∠BCO=180∘−20∘−125∘=35∘ .

Use what you know about translations of functions to analyze the graph of the function f(x) = (0.5)x−5 + 8. You may wish to grap
IrinaVladis [17]

Answer:

The Translation is 5 units to the right and 8 units up

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets talk about some transformation

- If the function f(x) translated horizontally to the right

 by h units, then the new function g(x) = f(x - h)

- If the function f(x) translated horizontally to the left

 by h units, then the new function g(x) = f(x + h)

- If the function f(x) translated vertically up

 by k units, then the new function g(x) = f(x) + k

- If the function f(x) translated vertically down

 by k units, then the new function g(x) = f(x) – k

* Now lets solve the problem

∵ The parent function is y = (0.5)^x

∵ f(x) = (0.5)^x - 5 + 8 after translation

- The x in the first function is (x - 5) in the second function

∴ There is a horizontal translation to the right 5 units

- the first function is (0.5)^x in the second function y = (0.5)^x - 5 + 8

∴ There is a vertical translation up 8 units

* The Translation is 5 units to the right and 8 units up

- Look to the attached graph to more understand

- The purple graph is y = (0.5)^x

- The black graph is f(x) = (0.5)^x-5 + 8

- To check the answer take a point from the y = (0.5)^x as (0 , 1), the

 image of this point on f(x) is (5 , 9)

-The point (0 , 1) is shifted 5 units to the right and 8 units up

∴ Its x- coordinate move from 0 to 5, y- coordinate move from 1 to 9
