Jake, Lionel, and Wayne work as house painters for Paint Well Company. Jake can paint 1 room in t hours. Lionel can paint a room

2 hours faster than Jake can. Wayne can paint 2 rooms in 3 times the number of hours that Lionel takes to paint 1 room.
a. Write an expression to represent the number of rooms per hour that each person can paint.

b. Write an expression to represent the total number of rooms per hour that Jake, Lionel, and Wayne can paint together.

c. If Jake can paint 1 room in 8 hours, find the rate, in terms of number of rooms per hour, at which Jake, Lionel, and Wayne can paint working together.

d. Wayne gets sick and is unable to work. What is the rate, in rooms per hour, at which Jake and Lionel can paint together? Work with the expression you wrote in part b.

e. The Paint Well Company hires Donald as a replacement for Wayne. Donald takes twice the time taken by Lionel to paint 1 room. Write an expression to represent the total number of rooms that Jake, Lionel, and Donald can paint together in 1 hour.

f. Find the number of rooms per hour that Jake, Lionel, and Donald can paint working together if t is 6 hours.

g. Compare the rate at which Jake, Lionel, and Donald paint (part f) with the rate at which Jake, Lionel, and Wayne paint (part c). Determine whether the new rate is faster or slower and by how much.

h. Apply the rate you computed in part f to determine how long it would take Jake, Lionel, and Donald to paint 6 rooms in a house.

Hours to paint one room
Jake: t hours
Lionel: t-2 hours
Wayne: (1.5)(t-2) hours

Now who is Donald?

Shall we assume that by "Donald" you meant "Wayne"?

If t is 6 hours, then the hours to paint one room is
Jake: 6 hours
Lionel: 4 hours
Wayne: 6 hours
This means that in one hour:
Jake can paint 1/6 of a room,
Lionel can paint 1/4 of a room,
Wayne can paint 1/6 of a room.
Added together, the three of them can paint (1/6 + 1/4 + 1/6) = 7/12 of a room in one hour.

If Angle 6 is congruent to angle 10 and Angle 5 is congruent to angle 7, which describes all the lines that must be parallel? Li
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

Third option: Lines "r" and "s" and lines "t" and "u" must be parallel.

Step-by-step explanation:

The missing figure is attached.

You need to remember that:

1- A Transversal is defined as a line that intersects two or more lines.

2- When a transversal cut two parallel lines, several angles are formed, which are grouped in pairs. Some of them are:

a. Vertical angles: are those pairs of angles that share the same vertex and are opposite to each other. These angles are congruent.

b. Corresponding angles: are those pairs of non-adjacent angles located on the same side of the transversal and outside the parallel lines. They are congruent.

In this case, you can identify in the figure that:

\angle 6 and \angle 10 are Corresponding angles.

\angle5 and \angle 7 are Vertical angles.

Therefore, based on the explained before, you can conclude that lines "r" and "s" and lines "t" and "u", must be parallel.

A fisherman catches fish according to a Poisson process with rate lambda = 0.6 per hour. The fisherman will keep fishing for two
spayn [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a fisherman catches fish according to a Poisson process with rate lambda = 0.6 per hour.

The fisherman will keep fishing for two hours.

Since he continues till he gets atleast one fish, we can calculate probability as follows:

(a) Find the probability that he stays for more than two hours.

= Prob (x=0) in I two hours and P(X≥1) in 3rd hour

=P(x=0)*P(X=0)*P(X≥1) (since each hour is independent of the other)

= 0.5488^2*(1-0.8781)\\\\=0.2645

(b) Find the probability that the total time he spends fishing is between two and five hours.

Prob that he does not get fish in I two hours * prob he gets fish between 3 and 5 hours

=P(0)^2 *F(1)^3\\=0.5488^2*0.2645^3\\=0.00557

(c) Find the expected number offish that he catches.

Expected value in Geometric distribution = \frac{1-p}{p}, where p = prob of getting 1 fish in one hour

= \frac{0.6}{1-0.6} \\=3

(d) Find the expected total fishing time, given that he has been fishing for four hours.

= Expected fishing time total/expected fishing time for 4 hours

=3/0.6*4

= 1.25 hours

This relationship is given by the equation, v = gt. In this equation, g is the acceleration due to gravity, t is the number of s
DENIUS [597]

v=gt,

Initial value when time t=0, v=g*0=0.

t=0 s, v=0 m/s means that object’s initial velocity 0 m/s.

v=gt, and g is a constant g=9.8 m/s². We can write v=9.8*t.

Rate of change 9.8 means the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s².

Answer: C. The initial value is 0. That means that object’s initial velocity 0 m/s. The rate of change is 9.8. That means the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s2.
