The answer is: time is infinite.

In this story by Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges, he develops several ideas of a very intricate and complicated nature, although, it could be said that they are all related to a novel conception of time that is not linear but rather cyclical and infinite and which can adopt all possible outcomes of a story as the story is related (or at least relatable) over and over again.

What makes the ending of "The Necklace" Ironic? Atleast a one paragraph response!
tatuchka [14]
The necklace is ironic in the fact that when the necklace is borrowed it is believed to be a real diamond necklace. When she loses the "diamond necklace" she works very long to repay the person she borrowed from because she thinks the necklace she lost was worth much money. When she gives the money to the person she borrowed from and confesses that she lost it she was told that the necklace was a fake and that she worried and worked for many years over nothing. This is an example of situational irony. She thought the necklace was worth very much money when it was really only worth very little

On Christmas Eve they both wanted to give something to each other but they did not have enough money so they both have sold their ''treasures'' in order to buy gifts for each other. Della bought her husband chain for his pocket watch but Jim sell hid watch in order to buy her decorative hair combs which were useless for her at the end because she sold her hair because she got 20 USD for that which was enough to buy Jim a present.
