In England, the trunks of trees were blackened for many years by soot from factories. After passage of the Clean Air Act in 1959
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

Charles Darwin´s Origin of Species

Explanation:

The way the peppered moth changed (or evolutionised) is in line with

Darwin´s origen of species theory. As its camouflage is vital for surviving, the peppered moth species turned out to be darker when the trees were blackened by soot and lighter after the Clean Air Act in 1959. This made them more difficult to be spotted by the birds and guaranteed them the survival of the best adapted (camouflaged) species.

Read the following excerpt from Maya Angelou’s "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" and answer the question.
Genrish500 [490]

Answer: the tone is irony.

Explanation:the tone in this excerpt, seen above, can be identified as ironic. this is because the passage above is using the characteristics by using irony.

Irony: the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

Angelou uses the tone irony all throughout the excerpt, "In cotton-picking time the late afternoons revealed the harshness of Black Southern life, which in the early morning had been softened by nature’s blessing of grogginess, forgetfulness and the soft lamplight." This tone relates to her individual experience and personal perspective because in the excerpt she makes pitty on the harshness of Black Sothern Life. meaning that she doesn't like the life that black people that lived in the south lived, she didn't like it because it was harsh and unfair.

Why do you think both Wiesel and Annan speak of the importance of truth and personal responsibility?
Kipish [7]

Answer and Explanation:

Elie Wiesel was a 15-year-old boy during the Holocaust. His humanity shines as he bears witness to the tragedy that happens to the Jewish race at the Nazis' hands. Wiesel was a Jew whose home town of Sighet was occupied by the Hungarians during the second world war. He told his story about how he has been treated brutally by the hands of the Nazis. Speaking the truth, which shaken him emotionally, means everything to him. Night novel is a whole experience of Elie Wiesel in which minor details are also being written. The traumatic experience of Elie can shake the soul of anybody.

Annan is also held responsible for telling the truth. He spoke about genocide over passively. In his book Interventions: A Life in War and Peace, Annan argued that the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations could have made better use of the media to raise awareness of Rwanda's violence and put pressure on governments to provide the armed force which is necessary for an intrusion. He never compromised when there is time to speak the truth and taking responsibility.

Read the excerpt from "Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?”
Anna35 [415]

The correct answer is "She wants the narrator to remember all of her lines for the play".

We should notice this when she asks him to pretend that he is talking to her when he delivers the lines shown in the excerpt. The idea is that this should help him to actually feel the emotions with the necessary degree of authenticity to convey the intention behind the lines. In addition, when she says "think pain, but say Romeo", she is advicing him to associate in his mind the memory of the suffering she inflicted on him in order to more easily remember the lines and deliver them organically.

Hope this helps!
