Answer: the tone is irony.

Explanation:the tone in this excerpt, seen above, can be identified as ironic. this is because the passage above is using the characteristics by using irony.

Irony: the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

Angelou uses the tone irony all throughout the excerpt, "In cotton-picking time the late afternoons revealed the harshness of Black Southern life, which in the early morning had been softened by nature’s blessing of grogginess, forgetfulness and the soft lamplight." This tone relates to her individual experience and personal perspective because in the excerpt she makes pitty on the harshness of Black Sothern Life. meaning that she doesn't like the life that black people that lived in the south lived, she didn't like it because it was harsh and unfair.

In at least one hundred words, describe the impact of the Vietnam War upon the literary scene in America.
Molodets [167]

November 1, 1955 - April 30, 1975

The Vietnam War was fought between communist North Vietnam and the government of Southern Vietnam. The North was supported by communist countries such as the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. The South was supported by anti-communist countries, primarily the United States.

The United States lost the Vietnam War. It lasted for twenty years, something the US never expected when it joined in the fight. Not only did the US lose the war and the country of Vietnam to the communists, the US lost prestige in the eyes of the world.

Explain in your own words the purpose of Puritan ministers preaching sermons called 'jeremiads' that vehemently denounced sinner
tankabanditka [31]
Their purpose was to scare people into submission. The sermons would usually be about burning in hell for sins and describing the torture in detail and people would be scared of this and remain puritan in their belief and remain faithful to the church and to god. The most famous one is "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" by Jonathan Edwards that is still read by many today.
