Read the excerpt below and answer the question. Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box,
Sonbull [250]

Answer:

Backstory.

Explanation:

The references to stones in the story "The Lottery" creates the backstory of the whole story. The ritual of the lottery wherein a member of a particular household is stoned to death is like an annual sport stemming from Mr. Joe Summer's free time. Even though the villagers no longer remember the relevance of the rituals associated with the 'lottery', they still remember to use stones for the killings. And it was with stones that they used to hurl at Tessie Hutchinson, the unlucky victim of the lottery draw which her own husband had marked the slip the previous night.

Fatima will enjoy working with other people on the yearbook.

In the excerpt we know that Fatima wasn't having a good afternoon. When Martina came up with a great suggestion for Fatima to contribute to the Yearbook without putting any pressure on her. We do not know about a conversation with her guidance counselor suggesting other clubs. We also don't know if her pictures will be any good. From the excerpt, it sounds as though Fatima likes the idea of a role behind the camera so it seems unlikely that she would take over the interview. The best answer is that Fatima seems to look forward to working with other people on the yearbook.

How does the way people treat the old man change over the course of the story and how does this develop the theme?
notka56 [123]

Answer:

Two supernatural occurrences in the story are the old man that has wings and a spider girl.

Explanation:

The old man in the story is treated as a strange man of nature, not as a supernatural creature. His status of an angel is often talked about, as many consider him to be an angel.

Another supernatural characteristic of the old man is his incredible patience in the face of his treatment of people who are happy to exploit him until bored with him.
