Kathy and her brother Clay recently ran in a local marathon. The distribution of finishing time for women was approximately norm
xxMikexx [17]

Answer:

The proportion of women who ran the marathon and had a finishing time less than Kathy's is 66% (rounding to the next whole)

Explanation:

1. Let's review the information given to us to answer the question properly:

μ of finishing time for women = 259 minutes

σ of finishing time for women = 32 minutes

Finishing time for Kathy = 272 minutes

2. What proportion of women who ran the marathon had a finishing time less than Kathy's? Show your work.

Let's calculate the z-score for the finishing time for Kathy, as follows:

z-score = (272 - 259)/32

z-score = 13/32 = 0.41 (rounding to the next hundredth)

Using the z-table, now we can calculate the proportion of women who ran the marathon had a finishing time less than Kathy's:

p (z=0.41) = 0.6591

The proportion of women who ran the marathon and had a finishing time less than Kathy's is 66% (rounding to the next whole)

Elodia [21]

Answer:

Biology, in its simple terms, is defined as the study of life. Behavior can be described as the actions which an individual does. Behaviour of an individual are controlled by the mind. Cognition can be described as the term which explains how the thinking of the mind influences different actions which an individual performs. The actions which an individual will perform will definitely come under biology. The capacity to determine various behavioral actions such as our emotions, language, perception, attitude are all controlled by the biological organ which is the brain. In order to understand behaviour, knowledge of the brain is necessary.

Evgesh-ka [11]

Answer:

Metacognition

Method of loci

Deep processing

Rehearsal

Elaboration

Chunking

Mental set

Explanation:

1.) Metacognition refers to one's awareness of and ability to regulate one's own thinking. David had this awareness that he has difficulty remembering what he had studied. He was reminding himself that he should try to remember all battles he had studied.

2.) The method of loci David employed, is a strategy of memory enhancement in which at first, he began by just trying to group all of the facts associated with each battle into his memory in order to enhance the recall of information. On David memory journey, or palace, he tried three different mind palace technique.

3.) David Deep processing enabled him to start repeatedly associating the events that occurred in each battle with the place where the battle occurred which created a much stronger memory trace.

4.) David personally drill himself by rehearsing what he had read in preparation for the examination

5.) David initial method of loci was unable to elaborate the details of wars. And lack the process of developing or presenting a system for further detail.

6.) Chunking refers to an approach David took for making more efficient use of short-term memory by asking his friend for better method of loci. David new Chunking was to making up stories about each battle and how each battle is connected with other battles into units or chunks. The resulting chunks are easier to commit to memory than rehearsing a longer one.

7.) David will surely create a new Mental set toward his studies. When he tried his friend method and found it to be much more effective.

He will have a tendency to approach any other subjects the same way because that way worked in the past
