For the solution(s) to exist the equations must be equal to each other. Thus we can say y=y which means:

x^2+2x-3=x-1 subtract x from both sides

x^2+x-3=-1 add 1 to both sides

x^2+x-2=0 now factor

(x+2)(x-1)=0, so there are two solutions:

x=-2 and 1, to find the corresponding y values we can use y=x-1

y(-2)=-3 and y(1)=0 so the two solutions are the points:

(-2,-3) and (1,0)

The solutions of the graphed system of equations, y = x² + 2x – 3 and y = x – 1 are B. (–2, –3) and (1, 0)

Further explanation

Discriminant of quadratic equation ( ax² + bx + c = 0 ) could be calculated by using :

D = b² - 4 a c

From the value of Discriminant , we know how many solutions the equation has by condition :

D < 0 → No Real Roots

D = 0 → One Real Root

D > 0 → Two Real Roots

Let us now tackle the problem!

Given :

y = x^2 + 2x -3

y = x - 1

To get a solution from the two equations above, it can be done with the following substitution method:

y = y

x^2 + 2x - 3 = x - 1

x^2 + 2x - x -3 + 1 = 0

x^2 + 2x - x - 2 = 0

x( x + 2 ) - 1 (x + 2) = 0

(x + 2)(x - 1) = 0

(x + 2) = 0 or (x - 1) = 0

x = -2 or x = 1

For x = - 2 :

y = x - 1

y = -2 - 1

y = -3

∴ The solution is ( -2 , -3 )

For x = 1 :

y = x - 1

y = 1 - 1

y = 0

∴ The solution is ( 1 , 0 )

The price of an article is Rs 1200 and a customer pays Rs 1380 with VAT. Find the rate of VAT
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

15%

Step-by-step explanation:

vat amount

= 1380 - 1200

=180

finding the rate of vat

= 1380/1200 *100

= 115%

NB : the 115% shows that 1200 8 115% = 1380 , this give total amount including vat , we only want vat hence we have to deduct the 100% which indicates the amount of article)

hence 115 - 100 = 15%

15% * 1200= 180

SOVA2 [1]
It can't be A. since if you only look at managers, you are missing all the sales executives.

It may be C. this option is more random but doesn't guarantee that you will represent both groups of employee's. Also, each time you would conduct the survey, you will receive the exact same results since it is the same people.

It isn't D. for the exact same reason as A. but you're missing managers now.

Therefore the answer is B. Some managers and some sales executives selected at random. This way you get a sample from both categories, and within those groups, it is randomly selected.

I hope this helps!

arleen has a gift card for a local lawn and garden store. she uses the gift card to rent a roller for 4 days. it cost $17 per da
kaheart [24]

Answer:

We use negative values for the money Arleen spends.

a) We determine the change to the value on her gift card:

4(-35)+(-9)= -140+(-9)=-149

b) We determine the amount on money she has left on the gift card after renting the tiller and buying the rake:

200+(-149)=51

Since she has got $51 on her gift card and a wheelbarrow is $50 she is able to buy it:

51>50

RESULT

a) -$149 less b) yes
