Harrison is a dynamic character, changing the mood of the story. He is intelligent and strong, considered a mediocre man but a self-proclaimed emperor. He aims to be successful, he is an anti-hero.

Jay Gatsby: His real name is James Gatz, he is a mysterious businessman whom very few people know. The public is hospitable and very friendly. But in reality, it is a new rich, miserly, mysterious and doubtful past. He served in the First World War as an officer and is secretly in love with Daisy Buchanan.

How are these similar characters? both are considered and shown in society as successful beings seeking to fulfill the great American dream. But everything is a screen.

What is the difference between them? That Gatsby managed to make a fortune and Harrison has not made it

How do you think these characters could interact if they had the chance? If they had the opportunity they would compete with each other seeking to excel

How do you think they would act if they were suddenly transplanted into the 21st century? Gatsby as a good dandy could adapt quickly. Harrison should have a little more caution and look around to adapt properly.

Okay, so in this case, you have to compare these two characters- Harrison Bergeron and Jay Gatsby. While I have limited knowledge about Jay, I can still lead you through this. Now we need to find ways that these two characters are similar, different, how they would interact with each other, and what would happen if they were in modern times. Now, this may seem like a lot, but we can make this work. Harrison is from the future, while Jay is from the past, which is a good difference. What about their personalities? What can you find that is similar? How do they act in certain situations? If you can provide a simple answer to some of these, I can help guide you through it in comments below.

Which of the following sentences has correct subject-verb agreement?
marshall27 [118]

Answer: d. When he first enters the banquet hall, Macbeth appears cheerful.

Explanation: Subject-verb agreement means that the verb and the subject must agree in number, this means that if the subject is singular the verb needs to be also singular, and the same applies when the subject is plural. We must be careful with the final "s" in the verbs conjugated in the third person of singular (he, she, it). In the given sentences the option "a" is incorrect because the subject is "Lady Macbeth" (she) so the verb should be "walks", in the option "b" the correct it should say "Banquo, not Fleance, is killed" because the subject is singular (Banquo), the option "c" should be, "Fleance, without Banquo, escapes" (because the subject is Fleance), and the correct answer is "d" because it says "he first enters" and "Macbeth appears".

In "Self-Reliance" what does Thoreau believe hinders the development of a person?
Oxana [17]

The correct answer is C: Conforming to society. Thoreau developed a set of postures - under the name of "<em>Self Reliance</em>" - that explained how an individual's existence can be only be lived to the fullest if he has absolute confidence in his abilities and the utmost trust in himself, while confining into a life away from society. One of his main arguments was the fact that common folks spend too many resources (money, time, effort, etc) trying to adapt to society's patterns like fashion, hindering them from growing a strong self-developed sense of taste or giving the proper value to its voice and individuality.
