1st + 2nd + 3rd = 385

x  +  5x  + x + 35  = 385  *Add all values with x
7x + 35 = 385              * transfer 35 to the other side and change its sign
7x = 385 - 35
7x = 350                      *divide both sides by 7 to retain x.
7x / 7 = 350 / 7
x = 50

To check:

1st =  x    =  50                    =  50
2nd = 5x   = 5(50)                = 250
3rd = x + 35 = 50 + 35         <u> =  85</u>
                                             385

What proportion results in the equation 9m=10n
Serhud [2]
Give the equation 9m = 10n

Dividing both sides by 9n, we have
\frac{9m}{9n} = \frac{10n}{9n}  \\  \\  \frac{m}{n} = \frac{10}{9}

Therefore, the <span>proportion that results in the equation 9m = 10n is
\frac{m}{n}=\frac{10}{9}

Write and solve a quadratic equation for the situation below. Choose the answer that has both an equation that correctly models
Andreas93 [3]
Acceleration is:

a=g

Velocity is the integral of the above

v=gt+v0

And position is the integral of the above

h=gt^2/2+v0t+h0

You are given that v0=15ft/s and h0=0ft and let g≈-32 so

h(t)=-16t^2+15t

It will hit the ground when h(t)=0 so:

0=-16t^2+15t which is equal to

16t^2-15t=0  factor

t(16t-15)=0, since we are looking for the time other than zero...

t=15/16 of a second :)

So they obviously just rounded to one whole second.  So C.) was the correct answer.  (Although I would say they are all wrong because they didn't SAY to round the answer :P)   Haha, not trying to confuse you, the answer is most likely C. because they had the correct equation.

Nina can ride her bike 63,360 feet in 3,400 seconds, and Sophia can ride her bike 10 miles in 1 hour . What is Nina’s rate miles
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

Nina's rate in miles per hour is 2.7 miles/hour

Nina bikes faster

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

1 hour=3,600 seconds

1 mile=5,280 feet

<em>Convert feet to miles</em>

63,360 feet=63,360/5,280=12 miles

Convert seconds to hours

3,400 sec=3,400/3,600=0.94 hours

Find Nina's rate in miles per hour

12/0.94=12.7 miles/hour

Sophia's rate in miles per hour is 10 miles/hour

Compare the rates

12.7 miles/hour > 10 miles/hour

therefore

Nina bikes faster
