Cranberries and grapes may have therapeutic value. A cranberry company obtained the patent for a process to extract the oil from

cranberry seeds. According to the patent, this oil can be used to treat breast cancer or to reduce its incidence. The oil can be used in drinks and foods. A grape juice company claims to have evidence that certain grapes have health benefits ranging from improving cardiovascular health to improving cognitive brain function in the elderly. These claims will be tested by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before the companies are allowed to market their products for “treating” ailments or “improving” health. Until then, the companies can describe that their products “help to maintain” or “support” health. Until studies support their claims, the companies cannot ascribe direct health benefits to their products. Why would the FDA perform tests when a cranberry company and a grape company have already conducted research on the same products? The FDA is the only organization that can test if health actually improves. Tests that are performed by any company which benefits financially are considered unreliable. The FDA tests give reliability to the results of improved health obtained by each company. Tests performed by the FDA follow established scientific methods, but those performed by companies do not.

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-The FDA tests give reliability to the results of improved health obtained by each company.

Explanation:

The Food and Drug Administration or FDA is a United States federal agency established to control the food safety under the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

The FDA helps control the issues related to the safety of the food and food products like dietary supplements along with pharmaceutical drugs, biopharmaceuticals, cosmetics and other products under the Acts.

In the given question the juices before released to the market are tested by the FDA as the FDA results support the results of the research performed by the company and the give the reliability to the results.

Thus, the selected option re the correct answer.

In the male reproductive system, the pituitary hormone _____ stimulates Leydig cells to secrete testosterone, and the pituitary
Katena32 [7]

Answer:

<u>Luteinizing hormone </u>(LH) stimulates Leydig cells to secrete testosterone

<u>Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)</u> stimulates Sertoli cells to secrete protein and other molecules required for spermatogenesis

Explanation:

Under the influence of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, the anterior pituitary releases luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). In males, LH stimulates interstitial cells of testes (Leydig cell) to secrete the hormone testosterone. FSH acts indirectly to stimulate spermatogenesis by causing the release of androgen-binding protein (ABP) from the Sertoli cells. The function of ABP is to maintain the higher concentrations of testosterone to stimulate the final steps of spermatogenesis in the seminiferous tubules.

Irina-Kira [14]

Cells are the smallest unit of life. This is true.

Cells are important to the structure and function of living things. This is true.

All organisms are made of multiple cells. This is false, because there are many single celled organisms like bacteria.

Cells come in different shapes and sizes. This is true, as there are cells with a variety of shape and size (round shaped cocci and the elongated and flat bacillus). There are cells from squid's nervous system, called the neurons, that are comparatively very large in size than the vast majority of the other cells.

ollegr [7]

Answer:

This question is incomplete; the complete part is:

Which of the following best explains the reactions of these enzymes?

A) Amylase aids in the removal of a water molecule to break covalent bonds whereas glycogen synthase aids in the addition of a water molecule to form covalent bonds.

B) Amylase aids in the addition of a water molecule to break covalent bonds whereas glycogen synthase aids in the removal of a water molecule to form covalent bonds.

C) Amylase aids in the addition of a water molecule to form covalent bonds whereas glycogen synthase aids in the removal of a water molecule to break covalent bonds.

D) Amylase aids in the removal of a water molecule to form covalent bonds whereas glycogen synthase aids in the addition of a water molecule to break covalent bonds.

The answer is A

Explanation:

In nature, MONOMERS are simpler units that come together to form larger units called POLYMERS. According to this question, Amylase converts carbohydrate polymers to monomers while Glycogen synthase converts carbohydrate monomers to polymers.

Monomers of carbohydrate are joined together by adding water molecule to form covalent bonds between the monomer units, hence, forming a POLYMER. This is how Glycogen synthase catalyzes its reaction of forming carbohydrate polymer (glycogen).

On the other hand, Amylase breaks down large polymer molecules into monomers by removing water molecules in a process called HYDROLYSIS. This breaks the covalent bond that holds the monomeric units together.
