A drought has impacted the population size of the frogs

The frogs need water and terrestrial habitats to survive because they are amphibians. The rainwater accumulates over the terrestrial regions can give an optimal environment for the survival of the frogs. In the situation given, Carter saw tons of frogs after the rain but then he saw less than five frogs. This happened because that the road did not have water for a long time because of the drought, a condition in which a region does not have suitable amounts of rainfall making the environment hot and dry.

Taunton's is an all-equity firm that has 152,500 shares of stock outstanding. The CFO is considering borrowing $251,000 at 7 per
Ann [662]

Solution:

Price per share

= Total Borrowing /No of shares repurchase

= 251,000 /21,500 = $ 11.67

Total Equity   = (Shares outstanding-Shares repurchased) * Price per share

                     = (152,500 -21,500 )*11.67

                     = $1,274,095

Debt = $ 251,000

Value of the firm = Equity+Debt

                           =  1,274,095 + 251,000

                          = 1,525,095

Value of the firm = $1,525,095

Pollyanna Publishing, a textbook publishing firm, purchased a new machine for $80,000. This machine is expected to operate for 1
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

A.

The first year’s Depreciation Expense: $14,400

The second year’s depreciation expense: $11,520

B.

The first year’s Depreciation Expense = The second year’s depreciation expense = $7,200

Explanation:

A. Under the straight-line method, useful life is 10 years, so the asset's annual depreciation will be 10% of the Depreciable cost.

Depreciable cost = Total asset cost - salvage value =  $80,000-$8,000 = $72,000

Under the double-declining-balance method the 10% straight line rate is doubled to 20% - multiplied times the Depreciable cost's book value at the beginning of the year.

In the first year, depreciation expense = 20% x $72,000  = $14,400

At the beginning of the second year, the Depreciable cost's book value is $72,000 -$14,400 = $57,600

In the second year, depreciation expense = 20% x $57,600  = $11,520

B.

The company uses straight-line depreciation, Depreciation Expense each year is calculated by following formula:

Depreciation Expense = (Cost of machine − salvage value)/Useful Life = ($80,000-$8,000)/10 = $7,200

The first year’s Depreciation Expense = The second year’s depreciation expense = $7,200

Break even point is the level at which a company makes neither a profit nor a loss.

Break even point (units) = Fixed Costs ÷ Contribution per unit

Step 1 :

Find Contribution per unit of each process and add the unit contributions to find the total unit contribution

Contribution = Sales - Variable Costs

Step 2

Find the Total Fixed Costs for both the  copper process and nickel process.

Step 3

Determine the sales mix for copper process and nickel process

Step 4

Calculate the Break even units for the 2 processes combined. After that multiply the respective mixes to the break even point
