• The effect of neurotransmitters tends to be fast.

• The effects of hormones tend to be long-lasting.

Further Explanation:

The neurotransmitter diffuses to the other side of the cleft and attaches to the chemical proteins of the postsynaptic membrane to obtain graded potential. There are two types of neurotransmitter:

• Inhibitory neurotransmitter

• Excitatory neurotransmitter

The excitatory neurotransmitter promotes depolarization. The acetylcholine binds to its receptor proteins in the postsynaptic membrane. It causes the opening of ligand-gated ion channels within the membrane protein. The inhibitory neurotransmitter produces inhibitory postsynaptic potential (IPSP) that promotes the hyperpolarization of the cell. Hormones and neurotransmitters induce the opening of the ligand gate. The changes in permeability are measured as depolarization and hyperpolarization of the membrane potential.External stimuli or external neurotransmitter tends to fast reaction in the body toward that particular stimulus.

Hormones are a chemical messenger of the body that passes into the bloodstream to organs or tissue. They help in promoting growth, development, metabolism, and reproduction. They show a long-lasting effect on the body.

The effect of the neurotransmitters tends to be fast, as in a case of external stimuli, which leads to a quick reaction of the body, towards that stimulus.
The effect of a hormone, however, is long-lasting, where hormones actually are working on the metabolic or structural situations, which are going to have a long-lasting effect on the body.

In Drosophila, the autosomal recessive brown eye color mutation displays interactions with both the X-linked recessive vermilion
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

According to the given information,

b/b = brown, b+/_ = Wild type (WT);

XvXv or XvY = vermillion, Xv+_=WT;

sc/sc = scarlet, sc+/_ = WT

b/b; XvXv =white eyed female, b/b;XvY = white eyed male

b/b;sc/sc = white-eyed male or female

You should have at least one b+ and one v+ to be WT(e.g. XvXvb+b =

vermillion female, not WT)

1. vermilion females × brown males  Cross is: XvXv b+/b+x Xv+Ybb

F1: XvY b+b – vermillion males; and XvXv+b+b – WT females

F2:  both males and females have the same ratios: 1/8 white, 3/8 WT, 1/8 brown and

3/8 vermillion

Xvb+  Xvb  Yb+  Yb

Xvb+  vermillion  vermillion  vermillion  WT

Xvb  vermillion  white  vermillion  white

Xv+b+  WT  WT  WT  WT

Xv+b  WT  Brown  WT  brown

Cross 2 – reciprocal of #1:  brown females (v+v+bb) x vermilion males (vYb+b+)  F1 =

wild type females (XvXv+b+b) and WT males (Xv+Yb+b) 

F2: females ¾ v+_b+_ (WT): ¼ v+_bb (brown)

Males 3/8 v+Yb+_ (WT): 3/8 vYb+_ (vermilion): 1/8 v+Ybb (brown): 1/8 vYbb(white)

Cross 3: scarlet females x brown males

sc/sc;b+/b+ x sc+/sc+; b/b

sc/sc;b+ is scarlet, that you need at least one sc+ and one b+ to be

WT

F1: sc/sc+; b+/b – all are WT

F2: no x-linked alleles in this cross. 9 WT: 3 scarlet: 3 brown: 1 white

scb+  scb  sc+b+  sc+b

scb+  scarlet  scarlet  WT  WT

scb  scarlet  white  WT  brown

sc+b+  WT  WT  WT  WT

sc+b  WT  brown  WT  brown

Cross #4:  brown females (b/b; sc+/sc+) x scarlet males (b+/b+; sc/sc)  F1 b+/b ; sc+/sc

(all WT)  F2 is the same as cross #3.

The yellow ring inside the bacterial cell represents the bacterial DNA. Why does this structure disappear by step 3 of the lytic
adell [148]

Answer:

The bacterial DNA gets degraded at step 3 of the viral lytic cycle.

Explanation:

Viruses are organisms that are incapable of replicating on their own, hence, they require a living host which they infect and use its replicational ability to reproduce theirselves. The infection cycle of this virus is regarded as its replication cycle. Viruses employ either the LYTIC or LYSOGENIC cycle for infection.

The lytic cycle involves killing of their host cell at the end of the cycle. Generally, the cycle starts with the attachment of my the virus to the cell membrane of its host using specific receptor sites (step 1). It then penetrates the host cell as seen in step 2.

After penetration, the virus then secretes certain degrading enzymes called ENDONUCLEASES that degrades the bacterial DNA. After which the virus uses the replicational and gene expressing ability of the host to transcibe its genetic material and replicate itself. This process called SYNTHESIS occurs in step 3.

Hence, the yellow ring in the image that represents bacterial DNA disappears in step 3 (synthesis stage) because it gets degraded by viral digesting enzymes.

A class was performing an experiment to discover the pH values of some common household substances. The results of three groups
Vanyuwa [196]

The statement, which best describes the evidence that Group 3’s data are less valid than the data for the other two groups is this: GROUP 3’S pH VALUE FOR VINEGAR IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE VALUES OF THE OTHER TWO GROUPS.

An experimental result is said to be valid, if it gives the true values of the parameters it has measure. Looking at the experimental results given in the question above, one will notice that, the pH value obtained by group 3 for vinegar is quite different from that of the other two groups. In addition, the value is wrong, this is because, vinegar is acidic in nature. The result obtained by group 3 indicates that vinegar is basic, which is wrong. This shows that the results obtained by group 3 is less valid than that of the other two groups.
