Let
A = population of town A,
B = population of town B,
C = population of town C.

Because the population of town B is 50% greater than that of town A,
B = 1.5A                    (1)

Because the population of town C is 20% greater than that of town A,
C = 1.2A                  (2)

From (1), obtain
A = B/1.5 = (2/3)B        (3)

Substitute (3) into (2).
C = 1.2*(2/3)*B = 0.8B
Divide each side by 0.8.
1.25C = B
This result means that B is 25% greater than C.

What is P(A), the probability that the first student is a girl? (3/4)What is P(B), the probability that the second student is a girl? (3/4)

What is P(A), the probability that the first student is a girl? (3/4)What is P(B), the probability that the second student is a girl? (3/4)What is P(A and B), the probability that the first student is a girl and the second student is a girl? (1/2)

The probability that the first student is a girl is (3/4), likewise for the 2nd 3rd and 4th it's still (3/4). The order you pick them doesn't matter.

However, once you're looking at P(A and B) then you're fixing the first position and saying if the first student is a girl what's the probability of the second student being a girl.

Mrs. Huynh bought a bag of 3 dozen toy animals as party favors for her son’s birthday party. The bag of toy animals cost $28.97.
Luda [366]

Answer:  price\ of\ each\ toy\approx\$1

Step-by-step explanation:

Knowing that Mrs. Huynh bought a bag of 3 dozen toy animals. The total number of animals in the bag is:

3*12=36

 The cost of the bag was $28.97, so you must divide 36 by $28.97 in order to know the price of each toy animal.

To estimate this quotient, the first round the numbers so that they are easier to work with.

We can say that:

28.97\approx30\\\\36\approx30

Then:

30\div30\approx1

 Therefore, you can estimate that the price of each toy animal is:

price\ of\ each\ toy\approx\$1

In the diagram below, BD is parallel to XY. What is the value of y?
Elena L [17]

Answer:

Option D 97 degrees.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given lines BO is parallel to XY  and they are cut by a transversal.

Angles 83 and y are on the  same side and are interior to the transversal and are called interior angles on same side of transversal .These type of angles are supplementary ,that is they add to 180 degrees.

83+y=180

With y we have 83 added .

Subtracting 83 both sides we have y=97 degrees.
