I believe all of the statements apply except for the last one ("Prisoners could easily respond in the same way.")

All of those previous statements talk about Van Lew's creativity and determination. "Undeterred by the strict prison rules" means that nothing could discourage her from accomplishing her goals - not even the prisons. "She frequently brought books for the prisoners" means that she had found a creative way to pass messages. "She could tuck messages down a book's spine" means she went to great lengths (and great risks). "She made a pinhole..." is another detail that illustrates her creativity.

The last statement, however, doesn't have anything to do with her. It concerns the prisoners and their means of communicating with her.

Is mandisa correct in saying Mxolisi is a product of his own environment
Schach [20]

Answer:

Yes, Mandisa is correct in saying that Mxolisi is a product of his own environment.

Explanation:

Mother to Mother is a book based on real life event happened back in 1993. The book is written by Sindiwe Magona. Amy Biehl was killed a few yards away from her home. She came to South Africa to study. She was murdered by Mxolisi, the narrator's son. The book is written in epistolary form by Mandisa to Amy's mother.

Mandisa is correct in saying that her son, Mxolisi is a product of his own environment. Mxolisi himself chose the environment where people, who radicalized him before the crime were the same who shamed him after the crime. Mxolisi joined the Young Lions group, who was responsible for circling The Girl's car, which led Mxolisi to murder her.

When constructing an argument, one thing writers do is concede a point. This technique demonstrates to readers that the author considered both sides of the argument and that the argument being presented is not entirely one sided. Thus, what the author is doing here is conceding the point that tablets can be cost prohibitive. However, when conceding a point, it is best to immediately follow it up with a rebuttal. In this particular instance, what the author should do is include information on cost and perhaps try to undermine the point being conceded by mentioning the cost of text books, which can, too, be quite pricey and cannot be updated as easily as information on a tablet.
