But because Petrarch gave no clue who Laura really was, some readers suggested another Laura's name. Based on the poem, Petrarch was supposed to meet Laura for the first time on 6 April 1327 at a Church of Sts. Claire, Avignon. In his poetry, he seems to have made Laura a lifelong obsession, even until his death on April 6, 1348.
