Use context clues to choose the sentence that best uses the third definition of the word lore. Jasmine’s grandmother passed all

of the family’s lore on to the younger generation. The measurement of the lore told us exactly what bird species we had found on the island. In his personal library, the retired gardener stored his handmade volumes of plant lore. The lizard’s green lore was slightly darker in color than the rest of its face and body.

1. Jasmine’s grandmother passed all of the family’s lore on to the younger generation.

In this sentence lore means traditional knowledge or belief. It could also mean cultural history in this case.

2. The measurement of the lore told us exactly what bird species we had found on the island. AND 4. The lizard’s green lore was slightly darker in color than the rest of its face and body.

Lore in these sentences relates to the scientific definition. On a bird or reptile the lore is the space between the eyes and the snout or bill of the animal.

3. In his personal library, the retired gardener stored his handmade volumes of plant lore.

In this sentence lore means knowledge gained. The gardener filled his volumes with knowledge that he had gained over years of experience working in the gardens.

How does acceptance of responsibility influence effective communication
Virty [35]

During a conflict one can either accept responsibility or not (depending, or course, on whether the conflict is resulting from a fault of one’s own). If responsibility is accepted, the communication that ensues is honest and can be constructive resulting in an understanding that can generally be achieved when both sides are fully listening to each other and trying to understand the opposite perspective. If responsibility is denied, what usually happens is that “walls” go up and little listening takes place and, because instead of listening one is generally trying to decide what to say next in order to defend himself or herself, an understanding (with regard to effective communicating) cannot be achieved.
