Ted made sure to slam the door as he left. He frowned as he stomped down the hallway. He didn’t deserve this! He was the one who

had come clean. If he hadn’t told the principal about their plan to cheat on the math final, then they wouldn’t have been able to prove anything. Why was he the only one getting into trouble? He shouldn’t have confessed it at all! Ted was absolutely fuming. Which context clue in the passage shows how Ted was feeling? A. He confessed to the principal. B. He was the only one in trouble. C. He was planning to cheat on the math final. D. He slammed the door when he left the principal’s office.

Answer

Letter D. He slammed the door when he left the principal's office.

Explanation:

The other options give us the general context, what happened and why Ted ended up feeling angry: he confessed something to the principal and was the only one who got in trouble.

To make us visualize the way Ted was feeling, the author uses some context clues and one of them is precisely "Ted made sure to slam the door as he left". Angry people usually slam doors. The author goes on: "He frowned as he stomped down the hallway. [...] Ted was absolutely fuming."
