What is the main reason the Earth is warmer at the equator than at the North and South Poles?

When you think about it the north and south poles are frozen and it gets warmer and warmer as it reaches the equator. The reason for that is the sun. The sun rays hit the equator more then the North and South Poles.

Earth has seasons because the Earth's axis is tilted as it revolves around the sun.</span>
