From the above problem, we can  create the equation:

P = 245 + 20 t

where P is the total payment that Johnny receives and t is the total time he worked

Given that P = 2245, so find for t:

2245 = 245 + 20 t

t = 100 hours

Stacey has a square piece of cloth. She cuts 3 inches off of the length of the square and 3 inches off of the width. The area of
ratelena [41]

Answer:

The side length of the original square was 6 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The area of a square is

A=b^2

where

b is the length side of the square

Let

x ---> the length of the original square

The area of the original square is

A=x^{2}\ in^2

The length of the smaller square is

b=(x-3)\ in

The area of the smaller square is

A=(x-3)^2\ in^2

The area of the smaller square is 1/4 the area of the original square

so

(x-3)^2=\frac{1}{4} x^{2}

solve for x

x^2-6x+9=\frac{1}{4} x^{2}

Multiply by 4 both sides

4x^2-24x+36=x^{2}

4x^2-x^2-24x+36=0\\3x^2-24x+36=0

Solve the quadratic equation by graphing

using a graphing tool

x=2, x=6

see the attached figure

The solution is x=6 in

Remember that the solution must be greater than 3 inches (because Stacey cuts  3 inches off of the length of the square and 3 inches off of the width)

therefore

The side length of the original square was 6 inches

A person is standing 50 ft from a statue. The person looks up at an angle of elevation of 8o when staring at the top of the stat
Lyrx [107]

Answer:

h=50.25\ ft

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Right Triangles </u>

In a right triangle, one of the internal angles is 90°. When this happens, there is always a longer side, called hypotenuse and two shorter sides, called legs. They relate to Pythagoras's theorem. The basic trigonometric relations also stand, including

\displaystyle tan\alpha=\frac{a}{c}

where a is the opposite leg to \alpha and c is its adjacent led .

In our problem, we have a statue being looked by a person in such a way that the top of the statue forms an angle of 8° with the horizontal and the base of the statue forms an angle of 14° down. We also know the distance from the person to the statue is 50 ft. The situation is shown in the image below.

The height of the statue is h=a+b, where

a=50tan8^o

b=50tan14^o

Thus

h=50tan8^o+50tan14^o

h=50(tan8^o+tan14^o)

\boxed{h=50.25\ ft}

What are the coordinates of vertex J of the pre-image?(14 POINTS. PLS HELP, GEOMETRY)
DaniilM [7]
If we look at where it is now, we would have multiplied the x and y values by 1/2. since we are working backwards, lets multiply by 2 instead...giving us the vertex for the pre-image....

J is now (0, -2)      multiply by 2
J was     (0, -4)

A law firm is going to designate associates and partners to a big new case. The daily rate charged to the client for each associ
OleMash [197]

Answer:

Each associate costs the client $700 per day, so a associates will cost the client 700a dollars per day. Each partner costs the client $1500 per day, so p partners will cost the client 1500p dollars per day. The total amount charged 700a+1500p :$14100:

700a+1500p=14100

700a+1500p=14100

Since there were a total of 11 lawyers assigned to the case (associates and partners), we know a+pa+p must equal 11.11.

a+p=11

a+p=11
