Answer: A Bunburyist is a person who claims to have to visit or take care of a friend, who is only fictional, in order to avoid his or her obligations and responsibilities.

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little bit on the answer, it can be added that it was Oscar Wilde the one that coined that term. The character of Algernon has a fictional friend, "an invaluable permanent invalid" named Bunbury, whom he uses as an excuse to avoid some of his social obligations, claiming that he summons him to his bed and asks for his assistance. Since Jack also resorts to his allegedly younger brother in order to escape from his social obligations, Algernon also refers to him as a "confirmed Bunburyist." Unlike Algernon, however, Jack does not recognize his morally wrong act, and is determined to "kill" his brother if his beloved Gwendolen accepts him.

Arturiano [62]

Answer:

- Increasing the time on spent on points I and II by 15% each and decreasing the time spent on point III by 30%.

Explanation:

Preparation of an effective speech requires arduous efforts and time. Therefore, it requires to devote the time to each point or idea to be presented depending on the knowledge and experience that the speaker possesses about that particular topic or on the basis of the level of significance of the points.

As per the question, Alexi's speech could be balanced by 'increasing the time she spends on point I and II by 15% each and by reducing the excessive time devoted to point III by 30%' as the 'description of experiences and how vice presidents fail to be a part of the real change' in respect to organization and student government must be elaborated more coherently to persuade the readers and therefore, requires more time. While the last point is a mere suggestion or revelation of the purpose which could be managed in lesser time relatively.

Imagine there was a shipwreck. You are stranded in a lifeboat with a tiger. Both of you are hungry and thirsty. You fear the tig
Triss [41]

Answer and Explanation:

You: I can tell by the look in your eyes that you're thinking of eating me.

Tiger: That's true. I am indeed.

You: Well, I'd like to advise you against that. If you eat me, your chances of surviving afterwards will diminish.

Tiger: I doubt that. If I eat you, I will gain strength. Consequently, I'll be able to survive for a few more days. That might be enough for a ship to show up and rescue me.

You: That reasoning is good, but flawed. Yes, you will gain strength that will last for a few days. However, if a ship does not show up in a few days, you will die. Fishing is not one of your abilities as a tiger, so you won't catch anything to eat after devouring me. Also, if a ship does show up, the crew may very well be afraid of taking you with them for fear that you might attack and eat them.

Tiger: I see... go on.

You: If you keep me alive, we will solve all of those issues. I can fish for the both of us. We'll both maintain our strength until a ship shows up, even if it takes long. When that happens, they will certainly take us in. I will vouch for you, letting them know you were civilized enough not to eat me. Therefore, they can trust you not to eat them.

Tiger: I see your point, and it is a good one. I promise not to eat you if you promise to keep your word.

You: I promise. We have a deal.

The image of the woman behind the bars suggests the theme of male expectations as a prison from which she cannot escape.

The husband’s treatment of his wife is based on the assumption that she is weak and frail, like a damsel in distress.

The “cure” prescribed by the male doctor causes, rather than cures, the narrator’s mental problems.
