Heidi solved the equation 3(x + 4) + 2 = 2 + 5(x – 4). Her steps are below: 3x + 12 + 2 = 2 + 5x – 20 3x + 14 = 5x – 18 14 = 2x

– 18 32 = 2x 16 = x Use the drops-downs to justify how Heidi arrived at each step

First, she distributed 3*x=3x , 3*4=12, 5*x= 5x, 5* -4= -20
Which gave her 3x+12+2=2+5x-20
Then, she combined like terms 12+2=14 and 2+ -20 = -18
Which gave her 3x+14=5x-18
Then, she subtracted 3x from both sided
Which gave her 14=2x-18
Then, she added 18 to both sides
Which gave her 32=2x
And finally sh edivided 32 by 2 and got 16=x
hope this helps if you have any questions please pm me :)

Given :

Price of cereal without off, C = $2.88 .

Percentage off, P = 20% .

To Find :

Price after applying 20% off.

Solution :

Final price = Initial price - 20 % of initial price

F = 2.88 - 2.88\times \dfrac{20}{100}\\\\F=2.88-0.576\\\\F=\$ 2.304

Therefore, final price after sale is $2.304 .

Hence, this is the required solution.

It has been estimated that only about 30% of California residents have adequate earthquake supplies. Suppose we are interested i
lidiya [134]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that 30% of California residents have adequate earthquake supplies.

a) Ramon variable X denotes the number of the california residents that have adequate earthquake insurance

B) x can take value 1 ,2 ,3 ......

C)The distribution of random variable is geometric distribution with parameter p=0.3

The pmf of geometric distribution is

P(X=x)=0.3(1-0.3)^{x-1} , x=1,2,3...

D)P(X=1) or P(X=2)=P(X=1)+P(X=2)

P(X=1) or P(X=2)=0.3(1-0.3)^{1-1}+0.3(1-0.3)^{2-1}=0.51

E)

P(X \geq 3)=1-P(X

F)

E(X)=\frac{1}{p}

p is the resident who does not have adequate earthquake supplies.

p = 1-0.3 = 0.7

E(X)=\frac{1}{0.7}=1.42

G)E(X)=\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{0.3}=3.33

OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let c represent the number of children that attended the concert.

Let a represent the number of adults that attended the concert.

At one of the concerts, each adult brought 4 children with them, and 10 children attended without an adult. This means that the number of children that attended is

c = 4a + 10

Tickets for a concert were $5 for each child and $8 for each adult. The total ticket sales were $1730. It means that

5c + 8a = 1730

Therefore, the systems of equations that can be solved to determine the number of children, c, and adults that attended the concert is

c = 4a + 10

5c + 8a = 1730
