Death being discussed in this play is foreshadowing. The author is hinting that Romeo and Juliet will die or at least that someone will die. Foreshadowing is a good way to give your audience a hint about what is to come so they will feel suspense and will try to see what will happen next.

In Act I, Scene 4, Benvolio suggests that Romeo accompany him to a mosque in order to forget about his lost love, Rosaline. They are held back by Mercutio's monologue on Queen Mab, and Benvolio worries that they will be too late. But Romeo remarks with a powerful insight: I fear, too early; for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date with this night's revels and expire the term of a despised life, closed in my breast, By some vile forfeit of untimely death.

These lines are pregnant with foreshadowing.

Romeo fears that he is too early, sensing that he should not meet anyone. His meeting with Juliet is exactly "too early" as had he waited, Juliet may have been engaged to Paris.

"Some consequence" does, indeed, begin this night; he meets Juliet, and as a consequence of seeing and talking with her, Romeo falls in love.

The mention of "in the stars" alludes to the Prologue in which the lovers, Romeo and Juliet, are referred to as "star-crossed lovers," meaning that they are fated. So, Romeo senses that fate will play a role in his life this night as it makes its "fearful date."

"expire the term/of this despised life" foreshadows Romeo's feelings of agony in Act V, Scene 2, as he feels that he is "life-weary" and purchases poison, so he can join Juliet in her tomb.

"untimely death" presages what occurs for both Romeo and Juliet.

I got a 100 when I put this.

drek231 [11]

Even though you do not provide the underlined part of the quotation from paragraph 10, the answer to this question is quite easy to pinpoint due to advanced knowledge of the English language.

The best sentence is the one which offers a syntactic inversion, because it is the one that produces a more emphatic result. And being that the main purpose of inversions, it seems quite an obvious pick.

So, the final answer for this question is:

B) ‘seldom does a sight more grand and more striking meet a person’s eyes, as when he sees the Overland train slowing…’

This sentence provides more emphasis as well as a better and clearer grammatical construction.

Read the excerpt from Walt Whitman’s poem "I Sit and Look Out" that Clara is using in her analysis of "The Caged Bird." I sit an
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

The best answer to the question: Clara chose this excerpt to help support her interpretation of "The Caged Bird" because it has an extended metaphor that examines:___, would be: suffering.

Explanation:

"I Sit and Look Out" is a poem that was written by Walt Whitman and which makes part of the larger collection Leaves of Grass, published in 1900. This text speaks about the sufferings that the speaker sees in the world, as he does nothing more than observe such misery. "The Caged Bird", on the other hand, is a poem that was written by Maya Angelou, and it describes the life of a caged bird, its sadness and misery, the suffering the caged animal goes through, in comparisson with its counterpart that lives free. In both cases, we see one common denominator, and that is suffering, on one side, the suffering of so many people, and in the second, the silent suffering of a small bird that lives in a cage. This is why Clara could use Walt Whitman´s poem, and especially an excerpt of it, to analyzse Maya Angelou´s own poem; because both are related by the topic of suffering.
