Ans.

Mitosis is a type of cell division, during which a single parent cell gives rise to two daughter cells, having half number and amount of genetic material as parent cell. The blue-tongued blue fish is an eukaryotic diploid organism, means it has two sets of chromosomes (2n, where n is the number of chromosomes).

Before mitosis, DNA gets replicated and becomes double during Synthesis or S phase. As the blue fish is about to undergo mitosis and its DNA has been replicated, it will show 2n = 4 chromosomes and at the end of mitosis, each resulting cell will receive half of the number of chromosomes, that is, 2n.

Thus, the correct answer is '2n = 4.'

The strand of dna used in the previous problem undergoes a mutation, such that the second c from the 3' end is changed to a
dlinn [17]
This mutation type is a substitution mutation. Substitution mutations may be silent or may have adverse effects (missense mutation).
Adverse effects come about because the change in codons in mRNA transcribed from the DNA strand. A point substitution can change the amino acid being coded for in the particular polypeptide change. If that animo acid is a structural residue of the protein, the structure of the protein will be altered, which may or may not lead to a change in protein function. If that particular amino acid is a catalytic residue of the protein, it may alter the 3D conformation and charge of the active site (if protein is an enzyme) or the binding site of protein. Function of protein formed from mutated DNA will be lost or altered.

Hope this helps! :)

Which of the following examples can cause gene flow between populations?
yanalaym [24]
The answer is <span>bird droppings that contain seeds from a different location.

</span><span>Gene flow includes a transfer of alleles from one population to another. So imagine a population of plant A on location 1 and another population of plant A on location 2. They cannot interchange their genes. But if birds drop seeds from location 1 and those seeds get to location 2, gene flow may occur.</span>
