Attached is an image showing the lymphoid and myeloid cell lines.

From a multipotential hematopoietic stem cell, the myeloid stem cell and a lymphoid stem cell will arise.

The lymphoid stem cell will give rise to the lymphoblast and will give rise to either a natural killer cell (NK cell) or a lymphocyte. A lymphocyte will now go to either the thymus to produce T-lymphocytes or stay in the bone marrow to produce B-lymphocytes. B-lymphocytes may further differentiate to plasma cells (specialized antibody secreting cells).

The myeloid stem cell will give rise to other blood components and these include; (1) the megakaryoblast that will further differentiate to megakaryocyte and fragment into platelets; (2) the proerythroblast that will mature to a reticulocyte and then to mature red blood cells; (3) the myeloblast that will either differentiate into neutrophils, basophils, and eosinophils; and (4) monoblast that will mature to monocyte and will be activated in the presence of infection to a macrophage.

Which of the following transport mechanisms will be affected most directly by a temporary shortage of ATP molecules inside the c
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

C

ATP is usually used in processes and biochemical reactions in the body that would not occur spontaneously hence require energy to proceed them forward.

Explanation:

One such process is the transport of molecules against the concentration gradient. This is akin to climbing a hill. The channels that carry the molecule against concentration gradient require energy in carrying the molecule from the low concentration outside the cell to high concentration inside the cell. This is called active transport. Facilitated diffusion use membrane channels too, but no ATP energy is consumed because the molecules are moving down concentration gradient.

Which of these statements describes some aspect of facilitated diffusion?a.Facilitated diffusion is another name for osmosis.b.F
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

Facilitated diffusion is a form of passive transport hence no energy is required by the cell. This means that while the molecules are moving down a concentration gradient – line normal diffusion – the movement of the molecules needs to be facilitated (in this case by a transmembrane protein) either because the molecule is polar and can't pass through the hydrophobic region of the cell membrane, or the molecule is too big to passively pass through the small natural pores of the cell membrane.

In a Biology 101 lab, Alex and Samuel were given unknown cells. Through a variety of staining and microscopy techniques, they de
Inessa05 [86]

Answer:

They concluded that the cell is eukaryotic cell.

Explanation:

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are the two types of organisms. Prokaryotic organisms are the organisms made up of prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic organisms are made up of eukaryotic cells.

Prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelle and eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles like mitochondria.

Therefore if the cell has mitochondria they must conclude that the cell is eukaryotic because the prokaryotic cell does not have mitochondria as it is a membrane-bound organelle.
