This is just a hunch, but I think the answer to part a is enchantment, because in the story Rip Van Winkle runs from his nagging wife into the forest and falls asleep for twenty years. When he wakes up, however, his punishment is discovered, because he ends up missing out on watching his children grow up, his wife dies, and the American Revolution. However, his life ends up being better after his deep slumber has concluded, because his nagging wife has died, which means he doesn't have to fear her anymore. By process of elimination, I conclude the best answer choice for Part A to be enchantment.

irina [24]

The purpose that the flashback serves in Act II of Our Town is to explain how George and Emily fell in love.

Before said flashback, The Stage Manager appears and says that before continuing with the story, we need to find out how George and Emily’s relationship began in the first place, and presents the situation where George and Emily first knew that they were meant for each other while having ice-cream at the local drugstore.

Read the excerpt from Act I of Hamlet.

Answer:

A. The simile compares the poison to a fast-moving, toxic element, emphasizing its deadliness.

Explanation:

The ghost doesn't compare the uncle to poison. Nor does he personify the vial. He is literally explaining how the uncle poisoned him by poured the poisonous plant hebona into his ear. Lastly, an apostrophe in literature is when you address someone who isn't there. The ghost isn't addressing the uncle. I believe he is speaking to Hamlet in this scene.
