What chemicals regulate the cell cycle how do they work?
Molodets [167]
Cyclins are the chemicals that regulate the cell cycle. Cyclins work by regulating the timing of the cell cycle in eukaryotic cell. Cyclins activates cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs) (an enzyme that works by adding negatively charged phosphate groups to other molecules in a process called phosphorylation) by binding to it to form a cyclin-Cdk complex. This complex then functions by acting as a signal to the cell to move to the next cell cycle phase. At the end of the event, the cyclin is degraded, Cdk is deactivated, therefore signaling exit from a specific phase.

Explain by a series of statements or steps how a tree trunk gets wider.
Alex73 [517]

Answer:

A tree will get wider by the secondary growth of the cells. This happens when the cell growth of the cambia or lateral meristems causes them to elongate and become primary tissue.

The site below gives a detailed description of secondary growth.

Jet lag occurs when a person moves rapidly from one time zone to another, causing conflict between the body's biological rhythm
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

c) melatonin

Explanation:

Melatonin its a hormone formed by the pineal gland, which regulates an individual wake cycles and sleep. Jetlag alters the hormone function leading to an alteration with the body clock of the persom.

Jetlag is a sleep disorder common to those who travel swiftly over several time zones. It is not a permanent sleep disorder. Its due to the body's internal clock lacking sync with cues generated in a different time zone, Cues may be due to light exposure and how often the person eats.

A basic factor on ones internal clock is sunlight. It controls the regulation of melatonin which aid in synchronizing cells in the body.

Specific cells of the tissue at retina moves the light signals the thypothalamus.

At night, the hypothalamus signal to the pineal gland to produce melatonin. At daylight hours, the reverse is the case.
