Answer:

The most prominent kind of pollution during 1989 was air pollution, as several of the country's national parks were hiding behind the air pollution curtains. The pollution started to decline biodiversity as various species were vacating the polluted regions for the cleaner ones, as they were not able to thrive in such circumstances. Due to this some plants even died like Jeffrey pine trees in Sequoia. The biological diversity was at threat as scientists had observed that acid rain and ozone depletion were making the things even worse.

Answer:

The most abundant type of pollution in national parks at that time was air pollution and it had begun to reduce biodiversity as organisms were leaving polluted areas for cleaner ones, or they simply were not able to survive.

The right answer is: Leptin .

Leptin is a hormone closely linked to the regulation of energy consumption and expenditure: appetite, metabolism, and hunger.

A hormone is a protein with a messenger function. This means that once released into the bloodstream, she goes to another part of the body to transmit a message to specific receptors.

Leptin is manufactured in white adipocytes (adipose tissue) where triglycerides (fats) are stored and acts on the hypothalamus.

why is it important that ions being transported across a cell membrane be shielded from the interior of the lipid bilayer
Degger [83]

The answer is The ions are protected inside the lipid bilayer so that it is not pushed back to a more polar environment.

The lipid bilayer is mainly composed of lipids (phospholipids and cholesterol), and is also composed of proteins such as transporters.

The ions (which are polar) can not cross directly through the lipids because they will repel them due to their apolarity. On the other hand they can easily pass through protein channels that will protect them during their passage (the proteins are more polar than lipids).

Answer:

Reinforcement

Explanation:

Reinforcement can be referred to as anything that can be used to increase, enhance or strengthen a desirable behavior in a person or an organism. Reinforcement is of two types, they include positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement. Positive reinforcement has to do with adding a reward in order to enhance a desirable behavior, while negative reinforcement has to do with removing an undesirable thing in order to strengthen a desirable behavior.

From the question asked,  because the presence of insects after moving the decaying logs increased the frequency at which the bears moved the decaying logs, the finding of the insects is, therefore, a reinforcement. The finding of the enhanced or strengthened the desirable behavior.

A species of mud snail was studied for five years. During this time, scientists observed the season in which they mated, the num
sergij07 [2.7K]

The correct answer is option B. The scientists were studying if the mud snails can reproduce both sexually and asexually. The characteristics in the study included parameters such as the mating season, number of offspring, effect of environmental stress conditions and lack of mates. Out of all the parameters being studied can affect asexual reproduction in the mud snail but lack or presence of mates is a parameter required to be studied to determine the mode of reproduction i.e. sexual or asexual because need for mates or mate dependent reproduction occurs in case of sexual reproduction.
