<span>A. Technological advancement is a side effect of military efforts to win wars. </span>

<span>In the passage “How the Internet and Other Technologies Came About,” readers are presented with the rationale for the development of the internet, virtual reality, and GPS.  A type of communications web (or net) was developed, broken down into pieces across the nation, so communication could remain intact should a nuclear war destroy one component (or geographic location).  Flight simulators were developed in order to help train pilots to fly in conditions brought about by nuclear war.  Guidance satellites were developed in order to guide missiles to targets.  All of these advancements were a side effect of military efforts to win wars—the communications web became the internet, flight simulators became virtual reality, and guidance satellites developed into GPS.</span>

How does he author support the argument that veganism is better for the environment
Luden [163]

In the essay "A Defense of Veganism", by Jessica Scott-Reid, the author supports the argument that veganism is better for the environment with option B) by giving information about the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.

Among the vegan movement there are some militants who have to face frustration and desperation that comes from learning about the cruelty of the farm, dairy, and, the cosmetic industries. Vegans are the voice of the voiceless. She says that among them there is a desire "...to see a world free of animal cruelty and exploitation free of the number one cause of greenhouse-gas emissions,.." and free of the leading causes of heart disease and other illnesses. She then states that a plant-based diet is beneficial for animals, humans and the environment.

How does the beginning of "The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain" relate to the conclusion? Select all that apply.
gtnhenbr [62]
These are the correct options, in my opinion. A. <span>The ending is inspiring in contrast to the beginning. The beginning is calm and toned down. The speaker is sorry to hear the young Negro underrate his own racial identity, but there is no solution yet. On the other hand, the conclusion is exulted, lively, and defiant. It offers an inspiring solution, calling upon Negro artists to finally climb that mountain and get free of their inherent prejudices about themselves. D. </span><span>The ending revisits a quote that was used in the beginning. This quote is from the young Negro poet: </span><span>"I want to be a poet--not a Negro poet," and it represents the wish of the middle-class Negroes to blend into American standardized society, denying their own identity.</span>
