You might have heard your grandmother say, “When I was your age, candy bars cost a nickel.” Like candy bars, the price of fast f

ood has increased over time. In 1957, the year Burger King introduced its Whopper, the price was $0.37. In 2015, a Whopper costed $3.99.
Suppose the CPI in 1957 was 28, and the CPI in 2015 was 240. The base year for the CPI is 1983.

Es as an older person, I have seen a big increase in the cost of things like I remember when car gas cost about 55 cents a gallon! While wages and salaries have gone up I don't think that in many cases they have kept pace with the cost of living. I used to get paid $365 per month when I started out in mineral exploration and then at my last job as an employee I got about $5000 per month but even then we struggled to make ends meet to pay the mortgage or rent and buy food and clothing for the kids etc.

Nastasia [14]

Answer: $67,600 and $2600

Explanation:

Total unit = 13,000

Defective unit cost = $5.20

Resale price = $3.00

Reworked = $5.00

Full price = $8.20

Opportunity cost

= Full price - replacement unit

= 8.20 - 5.20

= 3.00

= . Cost of reselling

= 13,000 × 3.00

= $39,000

1. Cost of defective units

= 13,000 × 5.20

= $67,600

2. Cost of reworked

= $5.00 × 13,000

= $65,000

3. Full price

= 13,000 × $8.20

= $106,600

B. Incremental income of selling the unit as scrap and reworked

Scarp = $67, 600

Reworked = $(106600 -39, 000- 65,000)

= $2600

mario62 [17]

Answer: Bank B is the better investment. In 10 years, her $2,000 will grow to $4,317.85, and with bank A, her $2,000 will grow to $3,700.

Explanation:

Bank A was offering 8.5% simple interest. $2000 with 8.5% simple interest. = A = P(1 + rt)

A = 2000(1+(0.085*10))

= 2000(1+0.85)

= 2000(1.85)

= 3,700

Bank B was offering 8% compounded annually

= A = P(1+r/n)^nt

A= 2000(1+8%/1)^1*10

A= 2000(1+0.08)^10

A= 2000(1.08)^10

A= 2000*2.1589

= 4,317.85
