Historians use a standard shorthand, “Gold, God, and Glory,” to describe the motives generating the overseas exploration, expansion, and conquests that allowed various European countries to rise to world power between 1400 and 1750. “Gold” refers to the search for material gain through acquiring and selling Asian spices, African slaves, American metals, and other resources. As merchants gained influence in late-medieval western Europe, they convinced their governments to establish a direct connection to the lucrative Asian trade, leading to the first European voyages of discovery in the 1400s. “God” refers to the militant crusading and missionary traditions of Christianity, characterized in part by rivalry with Islam and hatred of non-Christian religions. “Glory” alludes to the competition between monarchies. Some kings sought to establish their claims to newly contacted territories so as to strengthen their position in European politics and increase their power at the expense of the landowning nobility. They also embraced the ideology of mercantilism, which held that governments and large private companies should cooperate to increase the state’s wealth by increasing the reserves of precious metals. Motivated by these three aims, several western European peoples gained control or influence over widening segments of the globe during the Early Modern Era. By 1914 Europeans dominated much of the world politically and economically. Hope this helps!

vodka [1.7K]

Answer:

The "snapping" of her fingers will have no effect or response in the scenario.

Explanation:

The situation above is related to the concept of "blocking" when it comes to Psychology. According to the<em> "blocking effect,"</em> conditioning to a particular stimulus will only be blocked<u> if that stimulus was reinforced in alignment with a conditioned stimulus before.</u>

So, in the situation above, the snapping of fingers refers to another unconditioned stimulus. Its conditioning was blocked because it was reinforced in compound with the previously conditioned stimulus. This time, the previously unconditioned stimulus<em> </em><em>(poking of Emily's eye</em>) becomes a conditioned stimulus. This is, primarily, because Emily has already gotten the association of the stimuli involved, so she no longer responded in the same manner or it had no more effect on her when her sister mentioned the word "Psychology."

g What evidence provided supports the claim that "A high level of testosterone provides an unfair advantage in women’s athletics
Nina [5.8K]

Hello. You forgot to say that this question is about the film “Sex Verification Testing of Athletes”.

Answer:

The film shows that in most sports male athletes (who have a higher testosterone rate) outperform female athletes by about 10% in most sports. Testosterone is a hormone that is directly linked to athletic performance and this is the evidence that the film shows to affirm that "a high level of testosterone offers an unfair advantage in women's athletics"

This is adequate evidence, since it starts from a biological and scientifically proven principle, saving some exceptions.
