William Blackstone was an 18th century English judge, politician and thinker. He wrote the Commentaries on  the Laws of England and  believed that natural law  was given to humans by God .


John Locke was a 17th century English philosopher and physician. He wrote the Second Treatise  on Government, supported the concept of  popular sovereignty, and maintained that the  government cannot  block a citizen’s rights  to life, property, and  liberty .
