In "Gravity", by Judith Ortiz Cofer, the narrator's mother most likely put the guardian angel picture up outside the narrator's room c. to remind the narrator of her Puerto Rican roots.
Elenita starts the narration speaking about her bedroom, which is decorated following her style with her books, and her radio. Her mother decorated the house with pictures of saints and angels in what Elenita calls a primitive Puerto Rican style. Elenita took the picture of the guardian angel out of her room. Her mother placed it outside her door so that she sees it every time she goes in or out of her bedroom, to be reminded of her Puerto Rican roots.
The literary theme here is that women have a difficult time because nobody takes them seriously, or at least that's what it was like in the first half of the 20th century. Many people believed that women shouldn't be taken seriously and shouldn't have things like voting rights or rights to work or similar things because they were considered to be less serious than men, and that's putting it nicely because many people were not nice to them.
There are five elements of a plot: Exposition, conflict, raising action, climax, falling action and Resolution. From these elements, the one that approaches best to that excerpt is Resolution. The word "finally" can be a signal word that denotes the ending part and Resolution means that the conflict has been solved and indicates the ending, which it really makes sense, since after all the things happened in Jake's life, at the end "I expect we'll need three servings of bacon today" refering maybe to a happy ending.
A widely accepted way of thinking or behaving is a convention.
It denotes set of generally accepted standards and norms and a way in which something is usually done. Example for convention is shaking hands when greeting someone. Controversial on the other hand is something causing people to have opposing ways.
