Matt and Meg Comer are married and file a joint tax return. They do not have any children. Matt works as a history professor at
babunello [35]

Answer:

$9,379

Explanation:

using the 2020 tax brackets:

the Comer's gross income = $68,000 + $33,000 + $1,500 = $102,500

taxable income = $102,500 - $24,800 (standard deduction for married couples) = $77,700

taxes owed = $1,975 + [12% x ($77,700 - $19,750)] = $8,929

capital gains = $13,000 - $10,000 = $3,000 x 15% capital gains tax rate = $450

total tax liability = $8,929 + $450 = $9,379

What do you think policymakers expected would happen when they deregulated the trucking industry?
monitta

Deregulation is the process of taking government power out of a particular industry.  If there were deregulations within the trucking industry there would be more competition within.  Not only that, there would be less rules to make sure the truckers are following their weight limited, aren't carrying things that they shouldn't be or are illegal. if the trucking industry was not regulated there would be a tougher time in making sure stores were delivered goods as needed.

Which of the following statements represent a weakness or limitation of ratio analysis? Check all that apply. A firm may operate
Art [367]

Answer: A firm may operate in multiple industries.

Different firms may use different accounting practices.

Explanation:

Ratio Analysis as you probably know is a very useful tool in financial analysis. It works by comparing ratios based on items in the financial statements of a company to measure certain things such as the Company's Liquidity, Profitability and the like.

It does have certain drawbacks though such as,

A firm may operate in multiple industries

When a firm is operating in multiple industries. Comparing ratios is not a simple task. Different industries record profits and costs differently and just because a ratio is held in high esteem on one company does not mean it is good in another thereby making comparison based on ratios alone quite cumbersome.

Different firms may use different accounting practices

Now if different companies use different Accounting practices, you might find that ratios cannot be straightforwardly compared because different types of figures were used by the different companies. For instance, some companies might use a Straight Line Depreciation method as opposed to a Reducing Balance method which will have varying effects on income.

The present value of a stream of cash flows you expect to received will always increase when: a. the interest rate is greater th
AlekseyPX

Answer:

B) the interest rate is zero and the number of compounding periods decrease.

Explanation:

When you are calculating the present value of a future cash flow if the discount rate (interest rate) is lower, the higher the present value. Also, if the number of periods is shorter, the present value will be higher.

Inversely, a higher discount rate or larger number of periods, the lower the present value.

Since the smallest possible discount rate is 0, then that would maximize the present value, along with shorter periods.
