Photosynthesis is a process plants use to create glucose. In this process, carbon dioxide is being used up and oxygen is created as a byproduct, and this oxygen released into the atmosphere through the leaves of the plant.

Cellular respiration is a process cells use to create ATP, which is energy for cells. Cellular respiration uses up oxygen and has a byproduct of carbon dioxide, which is released into the atmosphere through our lungs and other ways (depending on the organism).

Thus, photosynthesis creates oxygen and reduces carbon dioxide, and cellular respiration creates carbon dioxide and uses up oxygen. Thus, <span>"photosynthesis and cellular respiration have opposite effects on gases in the atmosphere."</span>

Put simply, Photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide and outputs oxygen while cellular respiration takes in oxygen and outputs carbon dioxide. I hope this helped.

A volcanic eruption on the coast of Japan in 1850 deposits a layer of ash on top of a layer of red clay, and the ash is covered
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

Option B

Explanation:

The series of events mentioned in this description are as follows -

a) In 1850, ash layer deposits over the layer of red clay

b) In 1902, layer of silt from tsunami covers the ash

Now pot is found in between ash and red clay layer

While coin is found in between ash and silt.

Thus, it is clear that pot was first buried between the ash and red clay layer. While coin was buried in 1902 above the ash layer but beneath the silt layer.

Hence, option B is correct

Determination of Caloric Content of Three Foods1. Compare the calorimeter that you built to a bomb calorimeter. How are they sim
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

The answers to both parts (1 and 2) are given below.

Explanation:

1. The calorimeter is similar to the bomb calorimeter in a way that both measure the changes in heat that occur as result of the chemical reaction taking place inside them. They are different in the sense that a bomb calorimeter provides an isolated system with constant volume and pressure, whereas a regular calorimeter allows pressure to equalize with the environment.

2. Carbohydrates are the molecules that break down and provides energy for cellular functions. Whereas, proteins are not meant for the production of energy but for the production of amino acids to function as structural units for protein synthesis. Simply, the breakdown of protein is for the synthesis of more proteins by providing several units of amino acids rather than the production of energy.
