In animal cells, vacuoles are less important so the main problem would be trouble storing water. In plant cells however, they have an important role. If the vacuole was damaged in a plant cell, the turgor pressure (force that allows plant stems to stand upright) would be out of whack. The plant would become very limp and could die as a result.

By increasing the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary gland, follicles are stimulated and hence egg growth is seen.

This hormone is a gonadotrophic hormone and plays an important role in controlling the function of ovaries in females and testes in males.

In women, the hormone stimulates the ovaries to produce oestradiol. Two weeks into a woman's cycle, a surge in luteinizing hormone causes the ovaries to release an egg during ovulation. If fertilization occurs, luteinizing hormone will stimulate the corpus luteum, which produces progesterone to sustain the pregnancy.
