Read the excerpt from Poe’s "The Fall of the House of Usher." I dared not -- oh, pity me, miserable wretch that I am! -- I dared

not -- I dared not speak! We have put her living in the tomb! Said I not that my senses were acute? I now tell you that I heard her first feeble movements in the hollow coffin. I heard them -- many, many days ago -- yet I dare not -- I dared not speak! What is the effect of parallelism in this excerpt?
It emphasizes Usher’s physical illness. It emphasizes Usher’s sense of terror. It emphasizes Usher’s uncooperative attitude. It emphasizes Usher’s melancholy nature.

It emphasizes Usher's sense of terror.Repetitively saying "I dared not" shows his deep discomfort state of mind, whereas the parallel use of simple perfect tense in an interrogative sentence ("said I not") adds to the completely disoriented senses, as Usher can't tell the truth from the troublesome fiction of his own mind.

I need to combine the sentences with the describing information after the word timpain
vfiekz [6]

Answer:

Timpani, the large drums featured in orchestras, originated more than 2000 years ago in ancient empires.

Explanation:

This is one way to add the description after the noun. It's called an "appositive phrase" Timpani=drums So there are two nouns in a row that refer to the same thing.

Another way:

Timpani, which are large drums featured in orchestras, originated more than 2000 years ago in ancient empires.

That's a relative clause. It substitutes the relative pronoun, 'which' for timpani, and keeps the verb, 'are.'

Reread lines 88-100 what transformation has taken place? What assumptions had you made about the characters that had to be chang
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

husband would turn into a beast like a werewolf because of the cursed bloodline in the family

Explanation:

The assumption about the change in the characters which I had made was that the husband would turn into a beast like a werewolf because of the cursed bloodline in the family.

Since no exact detail was given at the beginning of the story about what the husband would look like once changed, I assumed that he would change into a pale beast with large body.

The assumption was inferred upon through these lines "He was white all over then, like a worm’s skin. And he turned his face. It was changing while I looked, it got flatter and flatter, the mouth flat and wide, and the teeth grinning flat and dull, and the nose just a knob of flesh with nostril holes, and the ears gone, and the eyes gone blue — blue, with white rims around the blue — staring at me out of that flat, soft, white face."

The Native Americans are referred to as “a ruder race” (line 24) and as the “children of the forest” (line 28) who in death produce “many a barbarous form” (line 31) to haunt their graveyard and punish unwary intruders, he juxtaposes this idea with the privilege of European values brought by colonial culture.

Father earns money for us all change into passive voice.
Troyanec [42]

To change into passive voice you must make the object that is receiving the action (In this case that is "money" since the "money" is "earned") the subject instead.

Another think to keep in mind:

When a sentence is passive it's because the action is being indirectly done. In this case, once the sentence becomes passive, it will seem like the "money" is doing to "earning", but we know that it is actually the "father"

The money was earned by Father for all of us

Hope this helped!
